You can't use the Japanese plug unless you use a step down converter.
Instead just buy the power supply I linked you to and also buy that tip in the previous post if you don't want to wreck the existing power supply.

Do you need the remote to access any of the functions on the XRGB-3? I don't mind fiddling around with the box itself, so I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks I should know of when picking up one without a remote.

No. All inputs have quick select buttons on the machine itself and the menu is fully operatable as well.

$250 well spent, then. Thanks.
I guess my next question would be where I could find the most recent firmware. Junkerhq wiki?

Parts turned up to make the UK power supply. When I lob the end off the cable. How do I know which one goes where on the new end?
Hope that makes sense

not without using a multimeter to test which wire's positive and which one's negative.

On the original PSU you should be able to see if + (pos) is supposed in the center or on the outside. I guess center.
If you put the red wire of the multimeter to the center and the black one to the outside and you get a positive (+) reading, you're ok.

Thanks for this, do I need to do this when it's plugged in and powered on?

you have to power the psu, but of course you don't have to connect it to the XRGB.

Ok just so I am clear.
- I lob the end off the current one
- solder the two wires to the new end
- plug it in, power on
- touch the inner of the new end with my red stick of the multimeter & the outer with the black
- then I should have a positive reading

exactly. And if you get a negative reading you have to reverse the two wires before using it with your XRGB.
You can also measure for +/- before soldering on the new plug. And just measure the continuity on the plug you chopped off to see which wire is connected to the center pin. Either way is fine.....

Great, thanks
What I think I will do is...
Cut one of the two wires, check continuity to see if it is connected to the inner or outer of the end plug, and then solder it to the new plugs inner/outer if that makes sense?

Job done & looking sweet.
How do I flash the firmware to change it to English, The links on the XRGB-3 site are dead.
Is there an English guide I can follow?

I posted the links to the most recent english FW files above. Just scroll up a bit. This should include the english updater as well. On my page you can find a step by step guide on how to use the japanese updater.
Before trying to install the B1 FW, check it if it's not installed already (change to B1), check if you get scanlines or not. B0 controls the language. There's just one version of the B1 FW.

If you can't find the tutorial on my page, it's right above the Framemeister review, at about 40% down the page.

Balls, your link for (current version is 2.12) is dead, also the one on their forum is dead
CPU Ver 2.21aへのアップデートを行うと、2.12以前のインストーラ付属のXRGB-3 Update Tool Ver 1.20では書込みできなくなります。
(キャプチャー機能の追加により、USBの転送プロトコルを変更したためです。)
2.21以降へのアップデート後、以前のファームウェアに戻す場合、xrgb3_update_setup_v2_12a.exeをインストールし、アップデートファイル(xrgb3full_v2_12.x3b)でファームアップしてください。

you're not the most tech-savy guy, right ?
I know that the links are dead and that's why I posted new ones in this thread - on this very page.
