That one still kills me. Some of my other favorite Steiner moments in TNA:

For some classic promo comedy, you can't go wrong with Jim Cornette:

And when I need to get myself pumped, Ric Flair and Dusty are always my go-to, especially the "Hard Times" promo:

I actually watched that before going to my last job interview (and yes, I got the job). True story, brother.

I remember when one of the road warriors spiked Dusty in the eye and he gave that 'Eye for an eye' promo. That was awesome.

All he needs is more TV time, and not being on TV for weeks at a time can get irritating. TNA let this guy be on TV more, I like how much of a smartass tweener he is. As for Joe, he's more a family man these days, so you won't see him much.

As for AJ Styles, he'll appear in ROH for awhile, but I still think secretly he signed a new deal with TNA the last few weeks, and stupid dirt sheet writers claim he's really gone from the company. Bad because some folks actually believe the bullshit these writers write, good because folks are buying into him being the anti-asskissing character he's recently portrayed. And if/when he does return, he'll return to a huge pop.

These sheets first report AJ didn't sign, then he did, then talks fell apart and he didn't. I think I need to quit looking at these things because it seems like poorly trained monkeys write these reports.

If AJ does leave, this would be a perfect time for Kofi to finally leave WWE and get some much deserved better treatment in TNA.

I can't stomach WWE, and all I watch is Botchamania or shoot interviews. I do watch some ROH but find it fairly laughable. Grew up watching NWA/WCW, and WWE. Haven't followed much since WCW and ECW went under within a few months of each other. I do still actively download torrents of old PPVS and stuff though.

Wrestle Kingdom 8 just ended. Overall it was a pretty awesome show, with two good matches (the 4-way tag and Makabe/Fale) and four great matches (Goto/Shibata, Devitt/Ibushi, Okada/Naito, and Nakamura/Tanahashi). I don't think it was quite as good as WK7 (which is fine, because that's an extremely high bar), but it should still be one of 2014's best PPVs. The title changes should also set up some fresh matches, so the future is looking good.

I haven't seen a GOOD gimmick cage match in such a long time. Any idea how this year's Cage of Death from CZW looked?

I missed the IPPV because of work, huge fan of DBH so I'm looking forward to watching it later on.

Onita still at it 20 years later.

Onita Pro - Atsushi Onita & Masato Tanaka vs. Yoshihiro Takayama & Nosawa (Explosion Match) 10-14-13

Not a full match but still some crazy spots pretty early on like at 3:00ish. Onita's hair nearly caught fire with that bump into the barbed wire.

Just saw that WWE will be releasing an app 24th feb. You get everything, the shows, the documentaries, the reality bullshit, classic matches and all the PPVs.. everything and it's only $10 a month.

The catch is that you have to commit for 6 months. Still, it sounds stupidly cheap. Aren't the PPVs $50 a pop or something like that?

Who's gonna be watching WWE anyway with their Over Kid-Friendly product anyway? I haven't bought a WWE PPV since Wrestlemania 28, and even that was a bit lacking.

But keep in mind, the WWE Network isn't just their own original programming, but ALL the footage in their vaults (WCW, ECW, AWA, etc). Revisiting the Monday Night Wars is always a joy for me.

Lurk around and one could find almost any PPV. I was just hoping the BIIIIIIG announcement wouldve been some kind of a sign that we older fans would get an Older audience quality product. Such as Deathmatch-like gimmicks returning or something to that effect.

Neither Attitude Era or ECW are returning (one reviewer always tries to compare TNA to ECW, and saying he loves TNA and all, but it'll never live up to ECW. No fucking shit, no one bleeds 50 gallons of blood or damned near breaks their neck as much anymore, nor jumps from a second story balcony ala New Jack), what we have now is either Monday Night Circus Show Starring John Flea Circus Shit-na, or TNA, ROH, PWG, NJPW, who absolutely blow the doors off anything WWE puts out now. No they aren't ECW or Attitude Era, nor are they trying to be. They are just trying to be uniquely individual.

In other words waiting for WWE to go TV-14 again is like waiting around hoping a corpse jumps back to life, won't happen. Vince is rolling in the money, his wife wants a Senate seat, and his stockholders don't want anything to do with a non-kid friendly show.

As for the WWE Network, they can shove it up their asses as they have changed some things in shows, like Goldberg's WCW theme to what he used in WWE.

Thank you for killing pro wrestling WWE. Royal Rumble 2014 is the worst booking I've seen in my entire life.

There's always room on the New Japan bandwagon (Fantasticamania was awesome).

Aside from the Bryan situation, I thought the Rumble was a solid show (at least in comparison to every PPV since SummerSlam). The Old Age Outlaws and Goldust & Cody had a good match, and of course Bryan and Bray had the match of the night. It was also fun to watch the crowd shit on Cena and Orton, despite them working a decent match. Everybody is just tired of seeing the same old shit and they're really starting to get vocal about it. (As if Cena being booed for the last 7-8 years wasn't enough of a hint.)

The Rumble match was also pretty good. The only major problem was that it was blatantly obvious that Batista was going to win, unless Bryan entered as a surprise. They have a bunch of really good workers on their roster, but almost all of them have been made to look like geeks over the last few months, so of course they never had a chance. But that's the WWE for you, they have their handpicked golden boys and they're going to ram them down your throat whether you like it or not. If you somehow manage to get over without their blessing, it's as if they'll do everything in their power to cripple you (see: Zack Ryder, Ziggler, Bryan, and Punk to a lesser extent).

edit: I'm watching Raw now, god Triple H is such an awesome heel.

CM Punk walked out of WWE yesterday, and no it's not a storyline. Not sure the reason why he did.

Just listened to the Wrestling Observer podcast. Meltzer's take:

Punk has always wanted to be the top guy in the company, but that was never going to happen with John Cena around. He doesn't feel like he needs them because he's saved his money over the years (clearly, money isn't an issue if he walked out during WM season), and they were expecting him to leave in July when his contract came up anyway. Mike Johnson also reported that Punk walked out after being told he was going to lose to Cesaro in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match, but who knows if there's any truth to that.

Punk was scheduled to face Triple H at WrestleMania, so this throws a pretty big wrench in their plans. I assume that Bryan's going to take that spot now, but that would be a mistake because he really should be in the title match and finally get his big win at the most important show of the year (rather than at some B-show down the line).

All I'm left wondering is why WWE keeps giving Cena the spotlight when the fans were clearly tired of him years ago. I'm not the wrestling mark I once was, but even I can tell you that there's a handful of people who deserve a shot at top card and will probably never get it. And for what, exactly? Cena is no Steve Austin/Rock, yet they keep pushing him like he is.

I wouldn't trust a word Meltzer says, he's been waaaay off lately. Punk looked injured from my understanding at the Rumble, he's likely taking time off to heal. Though the part about Cena is right, we've Cena-nough of the guy.

I dunno, Meltzer reported that Cena vs. Bray Wyatt was scheduled for WM long before anyone in their right mind would consider that a possibility, and that match is definitely going to happen. What has he been wrong about lately? Nobody has a perfect track record, but he's typically the most trustworthy reporter there is.

TNA being for sale and Dixie Carter and her family wanting out. Dixie in turned decided to run with that idea and now we have the investor angle. Major misstep by Meltzer turned into a potential killer storyline for TNA.

Killer storyline? That's laughable. It's not generating a ton of interest in the product. There isn't room for a second major promotion in the US in 2014 and going forward.

BTW, Dave is great for wrestling journalism. He's one of the best, most knowledgable historians out there. Personally, I don't subscribe twice to the WON for the news but for the great articles.

When you see how the internet wrestling community is and their hatred for TNA, and you flip the script on them by taking something they believe is really happening from someone like Meltzer, then throw it at them and the owner of TNA trolls them tastefully, yes.

Dixie Carter has done a video where she has her lackey take pictures of 3 recent departures off the wall (one didn't leave, he's taken time off as he can't travel to the UK), then when her lackey asks what to do with one of the wrestlers art pieces she tells him sell it on ebay and make money off of it (trolling the IWC and Meltzer in the process). This is to fuck with people that said she has little money left. The Investor thing also comes into play off of this, rumblings are it could be Prince Devitt, dude's a phenomenal talent and has kind of shown desire to be in TNA (currently wrestles in Japan, is from Ireland, TNA was there tonight), people want him in TNA and on TV. You might not think it's a killer storyline, but in an age when stories are rehashed over and over, you gladly take it. If no one's interested, why all of a sudden the ratings start climbing little by little and the company does away with the older guys to make room for younger talent people have been asking for. I don't give 2 shits what any WWE fan has to say online, their show isn't any better and it's geared towards kids. Shit was great when I was 10, in my late 30's I don't think so.

If you're looking for a fresh story never done before in wrestling, forget it, it's all been done before. As for Meltzer, I don't trust him and won't read his rubbish. The guy isn't well received by a lot of wrestling fans.

Edit: there's also new talent coming in, people that people care about and want to see.

I should have posted this several days sooner, but, tomorrow is National Pro Wrestling Day 2014!

http://nationalprowrestlingday.com/watch

Admittedly, this year's card doesn't hold a candle to the show we saw last year; but I'm remaining optimistic that this will (finally) be the day that Chikara makes their return.
Please?!

He's been boo'ed even before he won the us belt and turned it into the spinner. My guess is that the kids love him and he sells a shitton of merchandise. WWE doesn't give a shit about the crowd who has stuck since the 80's. They are not the target audience.

Exactly. Kids are always where the money is, and that's what Vince looks at. The young fans want every action figure and playset, every toy belt, every t-shirt, etc., and (most) older fans just want to watch the shows.

When a wrestler has a strong connection with the kids, that's the one who'll get the push and spotlight. Just ask Hogan.
