Sorry, couldn't give individual levels reached. Between 21-30 for the first, and 51-60 for the second; that's all I know.

I actually found I did better with the original music!

Anyone know if there's a way to re-map the keyboard controls? I have to cross hand-over-hand to play.

Good job!

Nothing short of recompiling the gaming, I don't think there is a way.

Welcome! Thanks for your contribution.

Keyboards are great, they're used in FPS for movement. Some people may say that you need a pad or a joystick to enjoy a shmup, but as long as you feel you're in control, who cares what the interface is?

Might as well contribute with my supercrap-score.

Lock - Hard
2,165,120 - zimeon - 29 - Win2k/keyboard

Any scoring tactics? Are the green clouds worth more than the yellow, or vice versa? Do you get more points collecting the clouds while going fast? Etc...

Hi and good job!
zimeon wrote:Any scoring strategies? Are the green clouds worth more than the yellow, or vice versa? Do you get more points collecting the clouds while going fast? Etc...
Yes, collect all the green and yellow doodads. There's no difference in points between the two. That bonus number on the top left hand side shows you the points you get if you pick up one. Let one yellow doodad get off the screen and that bonus counter resets to zero. That means you need to be constantly moving. Think fast moving vacuum cleaner.

Other than that, the game is too random for set strategies. Shoot first and get points later.

Scores updated. Good job to all, especially zimeon who is up and coming. Keep it up!

rmg: Awesome score. However, your level seems to be a bit low, as you already document. I usually see about 1.8 mil per 10 levels with no bonus drop, and of course on the later levels I can barely grab them doodads. I would guess your level is 90s.

Thanks man, but it was definately in the 80's as 81 is the highest level I can start from (I always play from scratch). I'm fairly sure if you break 90 (91? Possibly the first level after 10 acts as the trigger for the resume point) you could continue from there.

New score: ROLL(extreme) 3,148,370 parsec 28

I was stuck at a lousy 1,9 million, having a hard time getting through the first level. But I broke my mental barrier and voom! Its still a lousy score, but it is a big step up for me.

Hey guys, do you know if there is a "last stage" or is the NI (which I myself think stands for Number "Infinite") something like the never ending shmup? Managed getting to 210 (from 201, that is) but it gets harder and harder som it takes time. Worst thing though is that you bascially can't train enough since the stages are random! Oh well, I'll keep playing then.

Heh. I can't answer your question because I've only gotten to parsec 140... BUT I'LL COMMENT ANYWAY! ahahahahah. :D

There is no end. I think. Well take a look at the source code if you want to really know.

I've never seen or remember a pattern duplicated. Maybe, you can pick out the components of just a few of the enemies, but taken together, the bullet patterns they spray out seem fresh and new every time. Seemly.

Keep playing. Because it's good for you! ^_^;

What's the deal with extra lives? I know (guessing) that you cannot have more than four, but even it that is true, it doesn't explain why I never seem to get 1-ups at the same score-rate. Or am I just plain blind?

Btw, I REALLY hate expert because the players speed is so messed up. Way too fast for me.

PS: Why isn't there a normal mode for highscores?

The latter, I'd guess. Extra life at 200k, then 500k, 1m, 1.5m, 2m etc... Don't know for the higher scores, though.

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. RL probs.

As for the normal mode or lack thereof... It's my bias, sorry. Post a score and it will get up there.

My current high scores, v0.2, keyboard:

Haha, funny thing about that, actually. I was playing Cho Ren Sha on a Pentium 2 333, scanline mode, but after comparing that to 1:1 mode and to playing on an Athlon, I think I may have been getting about 5% lag in places. I never noticed it when I was playing, but the music didn't exactly match the stage layout properly. E.g., on the P2, the music in stage 2 was about 10 seconds ahead by the end of the stage, even in scanline mode. So I have no idea how much lag I got in later stages, and I'm not reposting that score.

I'll get around to playing Cho Ren Sha again, but lately I'm bashing my head against Radio Zonde.

yeah, i think Cho Ren Sha is actually supposed to run with zero slowdown. I've never encountered any before. I was wondering why you didn't post your score. I can't remember what it was. It isn't as high as cigsthecat's, is it? I hate that guy.

i played radio zonde once and it didn't make any fucking sense. I'd bang my head on the wall too.

I had 11,030,xxx thru 2-6.

I figured out most of Radio Zonde's mechanics from the old forum and from Google+Babelfish, so now there's just the remarkably hard task of playing the game. I like to just go and play Touring mode, but I think I need to do a lot more single stage practice if I hope to 1CC within the next 5 years. It's damn hard.

i might have to give it another shot. it did seem like a very high quality game, and hopefully it's not so impossible after you know what you're doing...
