It's the weeaboo way.
I just use whatever name is more convenient or sounds better for me, and that does not necessarily always mean the English name or Japanese name. For example I'll refer to the series about future-telling diary owners trying to kill each other as "Mirai Nikki" rather than "Future Diary", and I'll refer to the series featuring a demon butler in England as "Black Butler" rather than "Kuroshitsuji". If someone uses the name I don't use, no hard feelings.

On a related note, as someone who studies Japanese: Whenever I hear Japanese names and words get mispronounced. I know it's not the speaker's fault and I'm probably guilty of this too considering my Japanese is bare-bones at best, but hearing, for example, "Shibuya" with an emphasis on "bu" bothers me.

So it's all context sensitive? That's good.

One of the examples I find myself in conflict with is the Ace Attorney / Gyakuten series.
I've been exposed to both JP/EN releases so I sometimes get inconsistent.
My one consolation is that whether it's Mayoi or Maya, knowing her she'll eat anything.

Another one will be Pokémon names, which a few friends agree that it's in the same way that animals have different names in each language so no hard feelings there for the most part.

Bilinear filtering on emulators for 2D systems. There's already a myriad of better filters, dammit. Why must be Bilinear enabled as the default choice? I want to see sharp pixels on my LED screen, not a representation of someone ejaculating on the camera lens!

Bonus: Emulators where filtering cannot be turned off. DEGA, I'm looking at you.

Dunno why you'd use DEGA ever, since Fusion is a more accurate SMS/GG emulator [and has reasonable adjustable settings for filtering].

real annoying shit: hardware-accelerated image scaling that is forced bilinear
Notably, GM games in fullscreen on Intel video [interestingly enough, on my AMD netbook, it's nearest scaled, which was quite nice to find out].
It's not even like there's a driver setting to adjust.

also, apparently people don't like hard pixel edges or something for low-res games [which would explain why it's default], but fuck those people

intel video cards are notorious, I am guessing GM is using a opengl backend, because intel usually will ignore everything GL tells it to do and do whatever it feels like. It does have a driver, and there are some settings in it. but its useless. My roomie bought a new Dell 19' LCD for his laptop, with a native resolution of 1600x900, sometimes a chipset registers and switches to it. But other times it will only show that the max resolution possible is 1024x726. couple of restarts latter, shows 1600x900 option again. Da Fuck!!!

Depends on which version. 8.0 builds like mine run with bilinear filtering in fullscreen (and frankly I like it that way, the pixel upscaling when it's at nearest neighbor looks off), but has no OpenGL-related functionality at all - its pure D3D9. GM:Studio however I believe uses OpenGL for most of its stuff now.

Yeah, OpenGL on Intel under Windows is the worst with an Intel card. But no, GM [5.x and below] uses DirectDraw. GM6 and up uses Direct3D, and doesn't expose the option to force nearest.

Some angry reviews are actually not bad. But it does feel like a lot of people hopped the bandwagon after a certain Nerd took off.

Starting to think BIL must've enjoyed it when Retsupurae riffed Nostalgia Critic's LP of that Simpsons game.

I'm on my fourth 360 controller. This is getting out of hand. I'd say 360 controllers are by far the least durable controllers ever made for any system in my experience.

One of my friends swears by a 360 controller with the d-pad top busted like that to play Guilty Gear. And it's fucking working for him, somehow.
He actually uses the busted d-pad nub. Doesn't help that fighting him is almost an exercise in futility.

If it wasn't for the hideous squealing noises he makes, he'd probably be okay, maybe. But fuck, my ears.
Hell, that's the problem with the whole "angry review" genre -- they tend to get loud and annoying. The Nerd's probably the least offensive of them [but you'd much rather watch a video where he's just James instead].

For your entertainment, Here's the Retsupurae in question.

A quick google for "retsupurae nostalgia critic" (without the quotes) indicates that it was actually a bit of a shitstorm when it happened. There's at least a few Tropers who listed this as their "Dethroning Moment of Suck" (but then, Tropers are pretty much all diehard TGWTG fans, so are we really surprised?)

"Infinite" scrolling webpages. Especially Flickr, where after a few times you see the "loading more images" message, the tab becomes unresponsive for up to 20, 30, 40 seconds on an i5. The fuck are you doing, webpage? If the DOM tree has gotten so hideous to traverse by you adding all these elements to it, why the hell haven't you just dropped me on another page?

Even though I'm not against TVTropes as a site [wouldn't have watched/read some rather good stuff without it letting me know that it existed, really], fuck them as a community [also, fuck a lot of the names of tropes that they use :P ]. Seriously, reading their boards or damn near anything outside of Main is just embarrassing.

Not my quote. ;3
Sony's build quality seems somewhat variable. I hate the DS2 for the most part -- spongy buttons in general, non responsive d-pad, just seems a bit cheaply put together when you open it up [unlike say, a DS1, which is quite well made, and the DS3, which seems a bit better than the DS2 -- I don't have an original Sixaxis to see if the build is the same]. And either way, the least durable controller has to be N64 one. I actually don't know anyone who has one with a working stick that centers properly, and if you shake the controller, nearly all of them rattle because some piece of something broke off inside. What a piece of shit. Hell, even mine [which has been comparatively well taken care of, since most others end up slammed around in bags and subjected to Smash Bros and Mario Party [fastest way to ruin a stick]] exhibit these symptoms.

and fuck -- little girls screaming
I was walking down the beach with my dad on Thanksgiving [yay Florida], and out of nowhere, this hideous screech erupts. I look around, and see a group of young girls running out of some building [hotel maybe?] into the water, squealing and giggling. The absolute worst noise.

@ null1024: Firefox 26 may help with this. It only decompresses images that are visible on the page, so saves RAM. Probably this is not exactly CPU-usage related, I've found.

Also, about TV Tropes - what's also embarrassing are many old TV shows. Just the same old stuff over and over. Well, that's the story of the human race, I guess, so I shouldn't complain too much...

I hate it when people refer to characters as "Mary Sues". Especially when it isn't accurate. Yes, they're powerful. What, every protagonist has to be a weak chicken shit who wins by some miracle?

why do most electronic mix's on youtube have a really sexy(almost naked, with only bare essentials covered or jailbait) thumbnail pic, and then the mix is crap. Is that the only way they can get views? And then the thumbnail isnt even in the video.

I'm damn close to saying that OG media has jumped the shark after seeing this article. I mean, it's just two goddamned tweets reposted on the page. The subject material is interesting enough, though. Guess the media can't just have downside from losing users to "aggregators;" the flow goes both ways.

To be honest, I don't particularly hate Nostalgia Critic, but I feel like he's hit or miss. For everyone 1 good video he's got 15 shitty ones. He deserves SOME respect for his Cat in the Hat (live version) review though, where he perfectly burns not only the movie but also the corporate culture that brought it about.

Everyone else on TGWTG though, needs to fucking die. Seriously, Nostalgia CHICK is an ignorant bitch who half the time has no idea what she's talking about (seriously, she actually dissed "The Last Unicorn" and "He-Man and She-Ra: Secret of the Sword"--both of which are actually good movies). and Linkara. Seriously, that guy is so annoying to listen to. He has NO acting chops whatsoever, and most of his "humor" comes from the subject matter and not from him. The worst though might just be Bennett the Sage, who is pretty much a walking stereotype of what non-anime fans think otaku are like. He's embarrassing just to LOOK at, actually watching his pathetic attempts at reviews is even worse (and again, some of the movies he criticized are actually good).
