Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
Expected this to be on the PS3, or at least multiplatform. I'd say that 5pb learned their lesson with Ketsui that it's not where the STG players are, but this has to have been in development for a while now. They might be planning to port it later like Ketsui if sales are decent, though.

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
I might have thought 5pB would have released one of their STGs on US / PAL PSN, maybe they are hoping UFO might localise it for them like they did Mamaru-kun. Not that I expect Mamaru-kun to sell well enough that UFO would try again with another STG.
With MS axing spacebucks and paying devs in home currency instead of $ and stealing the difference I wonder if there is any chance 5PB might be tempted to go for a simple digital release.

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
Very nice. Here's hoping they've improved since the last release.
Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
I'm hoping this time they include in-game difficulty select ala CAVE that has pattern speed more like the second loop of version B for say the 'Maniac' mode and something more difficult again, but that's probably asking too much.
The thing in the first game I liked a good deal was the secret bonus/destruction bonus stuff in the levels, I'm hoping Tachyon (assuming they are still at the helm for this one) build on that aspect, and make the core scoring a bit more varied to boot.
One thing they definitely don't need to improve on is the online component. The game has the best, most easy to view leader boards in any of these X360 shooters, and you can score attack individual stages with their own leader boards too.

The major thing I'd like to see them address is to actually make the bullet souls do something.. anything... Contribute to a multiplier or hyper gauge, give an end stage bonus or help to trigger special hidden bonuses in stage. Wall to wall bullet cancelling is fun and all, but at least give some sort of incentive to doing it (outside of it acting like a glorified bomb).

I bought the game when it came out and visually it was cracking, and another vertical shmup is always good this day and age,
Fired it up, saw some cool bullet patterns coming towards me then pressed the shoot button and they all went..... this for 20 minutes before the game gets challenging? I just turned it off popped a cave game in and didnt go back to it tbh.

I don't believe AK had an official distribution in Australia. Some retailers import titles and sell them as second hand to dodge various regulations. EB had a bunch of second hand AK that were really brand new.AntiFritz wrote:People have already started trading it in? If so that's sad to see. The same thing happened to akai katana here, to the point where I've never seen a new copy in ebgames only pre-owned.dcharlie wrote:the stores are full of second hand copies

Indeed. Although I seem to remember someone mentioning that in the preview videos for the original game they did, but then changed the system to what we have now? I could be wrong.Kiken wrote:The major thing I'd like to see them address is to actually make the bullet souls do something...anything...

I hope it's a new game and not just an updated version of the original.
Other than that I am happy to see that 5pb is continuing releasing shmups.

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
I realise I'm probably jumping the gun a bit with this one, since the worst case scenario is that it's just the original game with the various DLC modes included like Version B and the Caravan mode. I hope I'm wrong about that.
Come on 5pb, make it a brand new version
I can't really understand why I like Bullet Soul as much as I do; The OST does nothing for me, some of the sound FX are a bit grating and as mentioned the scoring could do with an extra layer of complexity. I thought the graphics were competent to above average for this type of 2.5D presentation but I think it must be the ship speed or something. There's a few CAVE STGs where none of the default ships quite feel 'right' to me, but BS feels great.
The cancelling is kind of beyond a joke and the game unfortunately hits it's sweet spot in the second loop, at least in Version B, which will be too late for some of the folk around here. I like how you can online score attack second loop stages though, that's where it's at.
Maybe I just like it cos every now and then I like to be able to thrash around well into 2-5 on a STG, something I'm afraid is not going to happen on my CAVE games.

from what I could tell, people were saying this even though there was no indication in videos that souls were adding to scorestryc9 wrote:Indeed. just one of those things that are so obvious that you expect them without any confirmation.

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
I was at the demo event in December 2010 and asked one of the producers about it. he gave me a very unclear answer about the bullets, some kind of "well, we can't really explain yet". From my very short time playing the demo it felt as though the shadows disappeared as you touched them. Then I think siliconera picked up on my report and it just kinda spread around in the western press.Special World wrote:from what I could tell, people were saying this even though there was no indication in videos that souls were adding to scorestryc9 wrote:Indeed. Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
The way this game is played for score your biggest concern should be avoiding collisions with enemy craft at the very top of the screen, not sitting at the bottom, or even the middle and cancelling bullets since this will get you nowhere in terms of the multiplier gauge. The bullets shouldn't even really get a chance to make it to your ship, since the enemy that fired them should be dead already.strykr wrote:This..Casey120 wrote:Will the bullets make it to the ship this time ?

I've found that not only point blanking is important, but also running your ship right through the explosions of killed enemies will raise the gauge even faster.
Hopefully any ideas they may have had regarding making the souls do something, but either A ran out of ideas or B ran out of time to implement will show up in Infinite Burst, if it is indeed to be a whole new gamedenpanosekai wrote:I was at the demo event in December 2010 and asked one of the producers about it. he gave me a very unclear answer about the bullets, some kind of "well, we can't really explain yet". Same here, and I'm not entirely sure what I missed. Perhaps nothing if this is a genuine upgrade that renders the original unnecessary.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:I never did get around to buying the original Bullet Soul.

I'm not sure if this will be a full blown sequel, but the "burst" in the title makes me wonder if it will pile on the fanservice.

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
For fanservice, the dev would have to add some new characters and new ships with newfangled gameplay & game mechanics to justify a new BS game sequel from the ground up. Not to mention, the usual sexy portrayal of some of the female characters with well-endowed attributes would be a given.

Any news on this? 5pb still doesn't have a site for it.

Yeah, don't expect much for now, wait until later on in the upcoming weeks/months for something to come up. (news, site, etc.)

Well the release date isn't any more specific than 2014 so no need to worry (yet).

Re: Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst coming to Xbox 360
I wish there was some more info about the game available. Early promo videos indicated that they are reusing the art, so it could be some kind of "remix" of the original. I was considering buying the original, but prices are fairly high (10,000 yen, last time I checked) so that it's certainly no longer the kind of game I would buy on an impulse.

Watch this be a re-release of the original with both DLC components on disc.Bonus! wrote:I wish there was some more info about the game available. I'll still buy it though.

Hopefully not. If they try to re-release and include DLCs, please add extra character/bonus stage...............Kiken wrote:Watch this be a re-release of the original with both DLC components on disc.Bonus! wrote:I wish there was some more info about the game available. I'm not sure why that video was posted on YouTube yesterday. That looks like the original Bullet Soul and it's DLC, all of which came out in 2011.
