Progear release a possibility?!
Re: Progear release a possibility?!
Sega had a poll like this some time ago. People were stuffing it with requests for a port of Planet Harriers. Nothing came of it.

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
I much prefer Dimahoo and 19XX over Progear, but I'd still rather see Progear get a port (if that is what this poll is even for).
Progear is more approachable and wouldn't do nearly as bad for them, though still pretty bad I'd suspect. I'd be shocked if this resulted in any type of port, but one can hope.
Also, Dimhoo shit talkers haven't played it farther than getting crushed by stage 2 boss and decided to that "the convoluted item system" is terrible.

Number one now. I imagine they don't like it being there, seeing as though they didn't freaking create it. It's a Cave game plain and simple.
If they have any sense they will release all the top spots but it's probably for some console I don't have and it won't beat the original hardware version anyway.

Tell that to Guwange XBLA port.KAI wrote:Polls don't work.

Has anyone translated to see if this is even about a possible port, or just a stroking/publicity tactic?

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
It just says its for a "30th anniversary special project". My guess is the poll results will end up as an article in a book.
Like I said earlier, all their licensed games are also on the list so it doesn't look like they have potential ports in mind. Notice that the licensed games like Willow, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, AvP, both D&Ds, Marvel stuff, and Heavy Metal don't even have screenshots to go with the little blurbs about each game. Progear does though, so it looks like they at least still own that one. Maybe if they saw how much support it got from this poll it would encourage them to release something.

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
I voted for Strider 2.
Was damn close to voting for The Lost World; if I was more familiar / expert with them, I may well have chosen one of the brawlers (AvP, Fullmetal Madness, The Punisher, something else - wonder if Warzard is in there. Wow, so many interesting titles.
Progrear is a nice game but feels like a troll vote because it's Capcom's 30th, not Cave's.
I'm gonna laugh if (more like WHEN) it's a gashapon thing.

Staggering my votes between Progear and (edit) Mighty Pang.
Right now, Progear and 19XX are tied. There's a lot of love for speed-killing bosses I suppose. Surprisingly not a lot of love for 1944 though.

Granted, they did manage to re-release the above bolded recently (and everyone thought for sure those games would be Saturn port exclusive due to licensing issues).NTSC-J wrote:Like I said earlier, all their licensed games are also on the list so it doesn't look like they have potential ports in mind. Clicked it through (PnA) and it's at number one. Wanted to own a legit home version of this game for well over a decade now. It just looks gorgeous. An absolute tragedy it's been relegated to mouldy old rom status for so long now. Would look so sweet next to stuff like RSG and Guwange on my 360 dashabord line-up. Dear Capcom, do something f*cking right this gen, for the '90s 2D fans who made you, and bring an amazing looking Cave game onto XBLA! My £9.99 awaits

I've been voting Progear, hope it works!
Re: Progear release a possibility?!
Well, I voted for Rival Schools (jk). Progrear and 19XX -THE WAR AGAINST DESTINY- are both tied for the top spot at 20% of the votes though, good job guys.

Pro Gear ftw!

Got my vote: エリア88
Their best of that lot.

Progear would be cool. I've only just (as in within the last hour) realised why I've never liked it - Cave used square pixels. It's essentially an anamorphic widescreen game on CPS2, and shouldn't be played 4:3...

interesting little discussion on that very topic. progear looks fine to me in 4:3. i've never seen it in 16:9 to compare though.

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
You can see it in its unstretched state by taking an internal snapshot in mame. The cps1 and 2 games were obviously made for 4:3 as was virtually every other arcade game from the era. The graphics were made to have the right proportions when stretched which is why the fighting game characters all look squashed in unstretched mame snapshots.
Re: Progear release a possibility?!
I'd seen the snaps before but never in motion. I need to check Dimahoo as well like Dave mentions.
Progear is quite clearly a square pixel game. Yes, it was released for a 4:3 monitor, but the graphics weren't designed for it so it looks vastly better wide screen and not squashed.

I see what you mean. It looks a bit odd to me at first but that's because I'm used to it at 3:4. The suicide bullets are perfect circles with it unstretched... Leave it to Cave to screw something fundamental up.

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
You know, it's been forever since I've seen Progear at 4:3. I've always ran it at 16:9. Always. Mostly because I didn't know CPS2 games ran at 4:3 way back when, so I'd stretch it out in MAME.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
I voted for 19XX. I would have voted for Dimahoo, but it doesn't have a chance.
Progear would be third choice.

else: Progear, Varth and 3s
else: Progear, Varth and 3s

Re: Progear release a possibility?!

Re: Progear release a possibility?!
At the moment, progear is 1st tie with 19XX.
I vote progear everyday I thin about it.
Anyone knows what all of this is about ?
