Flea markets in my area. Sometimes I'll see some random "flea market finds" video pop up in my YouTube suggestions, and if the cover picture is appealing enough, I'll dive in on occasion. I'll see dudes find all kinds of insane deals and lost relics, which subsequently gets me fuckin' pumped up. Maybe it's drauch's time? Maybe I'll find System Shock in the box for $3 or Little Samson for $5. I'll take any sort of deal, really!

Same story. Hit up two or three flea markets, waste an hour that I could have been playing games or improving my healthy JAV collection. There's no short supply of Genesis sports titles in my area, at least!

Some new retro twat that jumped on the bandwagon opened up a new little flea market hut in good ol' Crackerville, MO. Thought I'd hit it up, maybe find a few cheapo games I've yet to buy for a decent price, especially since the owner touts "BEST PRICES IN TOWN. 50% OFF VINTAGE STOCK!"

All garbage. Anything semi-popular is price gouged way high for the gullible public who want to relive their Mario days. Heard a rather unpleasant interaction between the owner and a couple of clueless rednecks as I hit behind the pile of trash 2600 games.

"Ya'll got them like Playstation games?"
"Yes! I have hundreds of Playstation games. In my glass case over here is some of the really, like super rare and good titles. Have you heard of Lunar? It's like one of the rarest games ever. It's got a really rare 2-disc box, comes with a strategy guide (it doesn't,) and all sorts of stuff. It's the rarest of the rare! I've got other really rare games in rare 2-disc cases!"
"Oh, wowwwww."

There's about three of these little setups in town now, all ran by middle-aged white dudes who don't seem to play video games. Either them or Vintage Stock. Whoever wins, we lose.

drauch, come to canada, and welcome to the world of price gouging "RETRO GAEMS". I was once looking for a ps2 ac adapter at a local flea market, and the guy was trying to give me a lecture on how insanely complicated they are after telling me that he wants $50 for his.

I'm a god damn physics major, I know exactly how ac adapters work, I could build my own for a few bucks. And even better, complicated does NOT mean EXPENSIVE. ICs are the definition of "complicated", it takes several billion dollars worth of equipment to fabricate them, yet they sell for a few dollars.

I feel bad for people who get suckered into buying from these idiots.

Sometimes I don't dream at all, and that sucks.
There are techniques you can use to train yourself for both.
Man, I'm actually disappointed in myself that I haven't ever actually tried to do any of the techniques to try to recognize lucid dreaming, even though I've been interested in it for ages.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I've noticed that I don't rest too well when my dreams are intense or lucid. Better to let the brain take me to a room with polka dot floors where Cornelius from Planet of the Apes and Robocop are making donuts with ginger-based flour, while I watch and rest.

When my good computer dies. Disconnected it for a few weeks in the process of changing around the computer room's setup/furniture, go to try it tonight, refuses to boot or display anything on monitor, bios just makes a generic three long beeps error (RAM chip/slot dead? monitor dead? I've tried pulling/switching around both chips and removing the nvidia card). I hope this won't require a new motherboard, I've tried pulling the CMOS battery to see if resetting it will do the trick.

Is the whole lucid dreaming thing real? Is it true that you can actually play Akai Katana LE, cast magic and fuck your waifu in HD 1080p? I need to know this.

Three long beep is usually RAM-related.

CMOS won't do anything except reset BIOS settings. More likely your RAM chips are a bit loose, I'd give them a bit of a clean/nudge and try again.

If that works but doesn't display anything chances are the default output device got changed (because you pulled out the CMOS battery) from whatever port you had in to the other one on the back.

Yep... the sad thing is they probably make a ton of money. Such an easy cash in in those who capriciously want to relive some nostalgic gaming.

"Lucid Dreaming" is simply a two-part process:

A) being aware you're dreaming and
B) actually being in control, as if you were actually there.

It's really fucking awesome. Your mind creates this world, and then you can explore it at your leisure, do random things you can't do in real life like jump like a Virtua Fighter character or duel with a Ninja Turtle.

The problem is though is that its kinda hard to make it happen on purpose.

People who analyse a children's cartoon with an adult perspective expecting it to be this amazing and deep experience.

The fan made phantasm stage (called after extra) video for touhou 14 is a piece of shit. The scoring system is different, the shot type is different, and the boss bar is different. I couldn't even watch the whole thing long enough to see who the boss actually was. As far as I'm concerned, this game has no fan made phantasm stage.

The fact that I wasn't told about a DDC Phantasm 3 months after it was made.
All the patterns look more well done than the piece of shit that's DDC Extra. What.

People who refuse to watch a children's cartoon because it isn't "mature" enough for them. "Hey I'm in the mood for TnJ or some Disney classics", "nuh uh, I'd rather watch edgy gladiator simulator #97".
The problem is though is that its kinda hard to make it happen on purpose.
I just have one more little question because this is OT and I don't feel like a separate thread is necessary. Did you actually experience it yourself? I feel that all the stories in books and wikis are hardly confirmation of the thing's existence.

.
know-it-alls who actually know nothing - had to renew my yearly membership at the library today, and since i dont make much income i got this "city sponsored culture card" which lets me get the membership at roughly half the price, and this librarian (tattoed overweight female variation) starts mumbling something about my card is missing a stamp and a signature (nevermind it never had that shit to begin with). after the payment, unsolicited, she tells me that all 25 books i got at home expire today (big deal, thats why im renewing my membership), and, again unrequested, asks me if i wish her to prolongue their expiration dates (no thanks, i can do that myself online at home), then she mutters i should do that asap else ill get some dunning costs (my arse, that stuff wont happen before next tuesday).. i dunno, perhaps she was just trying to be courteous, but still.. (groan)

How is lucid dreaming different from just having fantasies while awake?

Do people waste their times in lucid dreams NOT fulfilling wild sexual fantasies?

CStarFlare wrote:How is lucid dreaming different from just having fantasies while awake?
It's like the difference between playing a video game, and just pretending you're playing one. In a fully-awake, conscious fantasy, there's a tendency to bend it all to your will--so the imaginary game in question will end up being one you will win without effort, and it won't be satisfying. On top of that, you'll KNOW its not really there, which dampens the experience even more. To put it another way: What would you rather do: Play Turtles in Time, or pull out your TMNT toys and just pretend they're having a time-travelling adventure?
Do people waste their times in lucid dreams NOT fulfilling wild sexual fantasies?
If I'm completely honest, having a lucid dream and then trying to use it for sex is about as sensible as buying a Sega Genesis and using it to play Pong. I'm sure there are people whose minds swing that way though, and they can waste their lucid dreams if they want to.

Yeah, I was just making a not so playful jab at bronies. There are a significant amount of "children's" cartoons that are actually quite good on any level.

Jokes that go over my head. :P

Similarity Edit: Occasions where someone is waving to or attempting to high-five the person behind me. +5 points if it's a girl I'm secretly enamored of in high school or in a high school dream.

Also: Finishing a full day's grueling work, and then having a vividly realistic dream of the workplace. <-I may have complained of this earlier. Forgive me, I'm half cut.
