Why does the "Reviews" forum still exist?

Or why do reviews in general even exist? People have such vastly different opinions on games, so shouldn't we just experience the game for ourselves?

On top of this, nobody even contributes to the reviews forum. I've been here 2 years, and have clicked on it maybe ~3 times. What do you guys think?

I did a few when I was sharpening the literary blade, all of which suck now and I'm embarrassed of them. But most in there are shit anyway, so I'm in good company.

I don't see a need to can the section though, they get a lot of google hits (just look at the view counts).

Yeah, it seems like people actually do read them..

But is there any value in reading a review for a game? more-so for the arcade scene where you can just emulate it to see if you like it before buying. I might see the value in reviews for brand new games being released today, but even still, I've bought so many games over the years that were "first party hits" that I thought were awful..

I'm storing it in a shoebox that's buried in my backyard. Having it under the same roof as my other pcbs would make them depreciate in value..
