Because input lag by design would be like adding inertia by design methinks.

No, the point I was making is that IF there is input lag, and IF this only affects the slowest ship, then this would still make sense, and precisely because Type C is slower than A and B.

You know, there are some people complaining that the shot doesn't activate immediately, but this is also by design. There is even a nice animation of your sidekicks rearranging before you can fire at full blast. This is also by design. So, the problem is that some of you don't think Cave can have any creative freedom and want them to program exactly the kind of game you have in mind, when in fact you could make a perfectly good case that those supposed limitations or shortcomings were intentional. It wouldn't be the first time that people on here went gaga over an alleged bug that's actually a design choice by the developer.

I think it's equally bad for all ships, not different between A or C.
A just moves faster, so of course it feels sloppier with the same input lag than slower ship.

I very, very much doubt that the different ships have different kinds of input lag.
Either there is one kind of input lag or there isn't. Different ships can't have different sorts of input lag, that is not how these things work.

isn't lag just more noticeable when you are slow? just try playing mushi ps2 emulated, the lag becomes really apparent when the game slows down and crashing into bullets becomes even easier

Well, you could program input lag by adding a delay before processing the input and updating the ship on screen, and make this dependent on the type of the ship you selected. It would strike me as rather odd, though.

All I'm saying is, it would be a really crappy design choice if it was intentional. Deliberate input lag is right up there with inertia as something that fundamentally goes against what shmups are about.

Anyway, I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this. I'm going to order this game, and while this certainly isn't a deal breaker, it's still very disheartening.

I've been playing this game for over two months now, and I have not noticed any input lag between ships. Of course movement speed differs between ships, like in the other Dodonpachi games.

How many times do I have to post this:
Cagar wrote: There is input lag. I've proved this by slowing a video that I took.
Also, move -> pause -> unpause -> your ship moves even when you're not touching anything.
You have to be blind or something if you can't notice the ridiculous input lag during slowdown. Even CHUBOW agrees that "TAC could die for not doing anything about input lag, because he was in charge"
It's gross, I'd estimate 3 frames or more.
I already felt it when I did the first move with my ship when I got the game, and the taste of salt instantly appeared in my mouth

So it's now about input lag during slowdown instead of input lag in general? If there is input lag in slowdown it, it's presumably because everything on the screen slows down, including your ship.

Slowdown means more time is needed to draw a frame, so existing frames of input lag will become much more visible during slowdown and this could make for 'ridiculous' input lag if the game actually has 3 frames of it.

This would be the case if we were talking about "real" slowdown. However, in Cave games just some parts of the game loop are slowed down, i.e. the bullets. I haven't played many Cave games extensively, but it's probably a deliberate decision to slow down the ship or not. I really don't see what the big deal is, tbh. Sure, I'm a relative beginner (but I have 1cc'd SDOJ on Novice plenty of times), but Jaimers isn't, and he's got the same opinion.

No, I'm pretty sure the entire game slows down. This is really obvious when you look at any numbers on screen (like the hit counter) and notice it goes up at a slow rate.

So, the entire video part of the game slows down. The music still plays at the same rate, doesn't it?

What slows down is game logic. Also if a render doesn't finish in time, game logic can often be paused. You should try to separate all these elements. Logic/Render/Audio.

In some cases, audio can be affected by poor performance - but generally not in more modern stuff. Also slowing just the bullets down and not the player ship would feel horrible. It's the entire logic update that slows down. :)

So, what does the marked bee cheat do exactly? I've only played in score attack so far, and the bee locations already seem pretty obvious given they constantly glow and give off yellow rings.

Is that the one that causes the bees to give off the screen-filling rotating rays of light to point out where they are? Probably only useful at all when you're first learning the stage layout, so you don't overlook any.

Still playing this game every now and then. Honestly don't think I'll be 1CCing this one. I can get to the end of stage 4 but the mid boss and boss on that level are just out of control. I'd have to dedicate serious hours to get anywhere with that. But anyway, still fun to play. Favorite part is still the stage 3 midboss.

What's all this shite about lag.

Joo guys need to accept that joo suckz and stop blamin' lagz lololololol!!!!!1111one2

That aside it's a pretty good port. Certainly something that is well worth owning given how CAVE seem to be going/gone.

Holy shit. My copy just arrived, and my first hour was a pretty severe mauling. This is fucking hard. Haven't tried 360 yet, but have yet to see the ST2 boss on arcade. Real good fun, though I'm not too sure about the visuals - the gloss and shine of everything kind of makes my eyes hurt.

Which part of deepest, darkest Congo do you live in where your copy would have only just arrived?

It got lost in economy Japanese mail apparently. Still, no harm done as I feel unlikely to be participating in any hi score chat.

I live in a magical, imaginary kingdom called California. It's a lot like Camelot but with more weed.

Yeah, I can't wait. Eschatos alone was worth the price of a 360 for me.

Eschatos was probably the best thing I almost didn't buy. Good thing they included those two Wonderswan games on-disc or I'd really be missing out.
