Can I post a score I got like 2 hours ago? Way after DoDonPachi ended? I don't really understand why there had to be such a long break but I want to post my score because I don't think I'll beat it... ;_;

Actually, this is just the time when I gather games that the top scorers nominate

C'mon chum, I'm sure you'll have lots of good PoDD runs before the deadline!

I got the 99 million run right before this thread was created, since this happened a couple of days after the DDP thread was closed, I think I should be able to post it :|

Chances of me getting another score to post are very slim, definitely not posting anything lower than what I just got.

Edit: seriously, nobody knew when you were going to create this thread, I've been playing non-stop these last few days.

Actually, I mentioned in the other thread that I was planning to create this on Wednesday.

I only created it earlier because I realized that I had to redeem my driver's license tomorrow and will neither be at home or the office for most of the day.

If I had created this thread tomorrow - 15 hours from now - as I had previously planned to do, would you still be asking to post your score that you got today?

Yeah, I would have. Considering how quickly the DDP thread opened after the Gunbird 2 thread was closed, I figured it would be fair game to get my score after the DDP thread was closed.

Ordinarily you'd open a new thread immediately after the old one was closed. Now, I understand that you weren't really able to due to not (necessarily) having all nominated games yet, but clearly you had them since you posted that you'd open the thread on wednesday - why you wouldn't open it right then and there is something I can't fathom. It felt like you were dragging things out due to reasons we can only assume (such as contemplating to switch to a lower difficulty because lunatic seemed too difficult - is my guess). Personally, I am in favor of letting chum post a score he did measly 2 hours ago considering the thread should have normally been open since yesterday. But those are just my 2 cents.

I only compiled the complete list of games for the poll shortly before I created the thread.

heisenbergman wrote:SSL #2 is done. Thanks to all for participating :) Final scores are in the OP of this thread and the OP of the DoDonPachi SSL thread.

Next up will be Touhou 03: Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream, and as mandated by Zil, it should be played on Lunatic mode.

Nominated games for SSL #4 will be chosen by: Erppo, Zeron & Zengeku3 :)
You posted this and changed the thread title to "Week #3: Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream" a few days ago, this was an implication that the new week had started. Otherwise you shouldn't have changed the thread title like that.

edit: admit I didn't read the latest post in that thread, which says it would start on Wednesday - I figured it would have already started since the thread title was changed to week 3.

Amazing run, Chum. Love PoDD, makes me want to go back and invest more time in it seriously. Although seeing you break 100 mil would rock.

:|

"The playing week ends on October 25, 2013"

Instead of making the thread for the next game as soon as the old one ends, you seem to wait a day or two. I wasn't aware a week was considered to start at 7am on a Tuesday.
If I had created this thread tomorrow - 15 hours from now - as I had previously planned to do, would you still be asking to post your score that you got today?
Or, apparently a tourney week starts in the middle of a week on a Wednesday...?

Actually, looking back at the threads, instead of picking a start date and then 7 days from then considering it closed and the next week's begun, you just decide when each playing week starts from whenever you post the thread? Gunbird 2's week was started on a Friday, DDP's on a Sunday, and PoDD's on a Tuesday? You should really make the new thread and transition one week to the next as soon as you close the previous week's thread, that way there's no confusion about there being a delay gap between weeks for score submission. Obviously you'd have to adjust the voting so that it's finished before the current week is up so you can ensure a smooth/immediate transition.

Chum's score really should be considered valid since, generally speaking around here at least, multiweek tourneys transition immediately from one game to the next without worrying about having to wait to play until the organizer gets around to making a new thread (which really ought to have been done when you closed the old one).

And frankly if you try to refuse Chum's score, I imagine you'd have a bit of a revolt on your hands. /popcorn

Okay, so to allay confusion on when scores start being eligible for a given game (since it was my fault that it wasn't explicitly stated anyway), I've made changes to some guidelines in the main thread:
heisenbergman wrote:[*]Games will cycle every ten (10) days.
[*]Scores are eligible as soon as the previous SSL has ended as long as the next game to be played has already been determined.
I ran SSL #1 and #2 for seven days each; but considering that you folks seem to be more used to games immediately cycling... I can do that, but have added an additional three days to account for the time when I gather the chosen games for the next poll. Also, more time to gather scores I guess.

So what will happen is that I'll create the new SSL thread as soon as possible after the previous one has ended, but will just add the poll later on when I've gotten the nominated games for it already.

Okay chum, post your score.

Thanks. Better that issue be ironed out now than later.

Wow two 90M+ score right out of the gate

Questions:

(1) Is anex86 really the best emulator for early Touhou games? I've been trying out PC-86.

(2) Should there be an issue with using autofire?

The consensus appears to be that all PC-98 emulators are shit in some way. Pick your poison.

Autofire should be allowed, I personally don't use it though. It doesn't really give much of an advantage at all.

I guess I'm up for Dimahoo too. Not that I expect to do any good in it but it's a pretty fun game despite it's lack of certain core elements that I appreciate very much. (subtle)

My incompetence at these kinds of games is outstanding. My goal for this week is 50m i guess. That or a clear.
I cannot possibly compare to the badass poddcuddling wonderponies above :)

EDIT: What, i thought it would look boring if all of the links said screenshot. :V

Glad to see Dimahoo in first place of the poll, I expected Ketsui to be up there.
Where can I get the Touhou game ? I used to have them all but disliked them so much at the time I deleted the archive like a retard.
All torrents seems to be dead now, and I'd appreciate a working copy before the end of the week...

edit
nvm, I'll pass on this week, this is already pissing me off.
