Best version of the ps3 pal model?

Post by Jonst »

Hey guys,I never thought I'd ever be interested in a ps 3,but the time has come to get one (tomorrow or the next couple of days) so,what model do I need? I mostly play arcade style stuff,so,fighters the odd shmup...do I need much memory? Slim model? Let me know!
Thanks in advance! :D

Right, cheers! I know absolutely nothing about ps3's is it true that if the model has 4 USB slots it's ps2 compatible, and if it dosn't,then it isn't?

Yes that's right, but they are prone to getting the YLOD due to the solder cracking.

my 2 cents: forget about PS2 compatibility - especially on PAL models. It was flaky at best (mixed hardware/software emulation) and today you're mainly paying for the fact that you can hack old PS3 models (with old firmwares). I assume you're after actual PS3 games, so I would recommend to go for a Slim or Super Slim and not for a vintage PS3 model.

Yeah,I got a slim today.in the end I couldn't be bothered to read anymore about compatibility issues and discontinued models,so I just went bog standard in the end.it just would have been nice to have one machine play ps2/3 as I just don't have the space to have loads of machines set up at any one time.thanks for the input though.
