Fireballs show up in high level games all the time, c.f. any The Shend video you will click on at random. Characters with good fireballs like Akuma, Remy and Urien abuse the crap out of their fireballs and I'm sure you can't dispute this, characters with weaker fireballs like Ryu/Ken still use them but at a range that's just outside melee range to surprise opponents who thought you couldn't hit them, this is because Third Strike is just too fast for "zoning" with the plainer fireballs, parry or no parry.Pretas wrote:While Zero 3 Upper has the more complete roster, I think Zero 2 Alpha will always be the most solid SF as far as playability is concerned. Zero 3's custom combo shenanigans are just too out of control, and allow for many unbalanced strategies not present in the earlier games.
I can appreciate the SFIII series, but I could never get the hang of pressing forward to parry, and it's a mechanic that essentially negates the viability of fireballs at high levels of play.
I actually liked Alpha 3 but the last time I tried it out online it was just people practicing their infinites, fun.
