Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
That's really cool. I guess it's just a PSN classics release though and not an HD port.

10th anniversary edition?
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
That's great news indeed. Maybe also Vita? I would get a Vita just for this one!
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Very fortunate for those unwilling to shell out for the enduringly expensive PS2 version.

Yeah biatch
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Sarcasm? I see plenty online in the $30 range with case and manual. Or is there a specific region version that's expensive?Pretas wrote:Very fortunate for those unwilling to shell out for the enduringly expensive PS2 version.

Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Physical release or PSN only I wonder.

I would be very surprised if this was a physical release.broken harbour wrote:Physical release or PSN only I wonder.
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Having recently played the handheld shmups released on the Virtual Console and Danmaku Death on the smartphone, seeing a chance of V being re-released pleases me greatly.
(By the way, first post here. Hi everyone.)

Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
A guy who works at Konami confirmed on Neogaf it's a PSN classics release. So it will run at 480p and will suffer from severe input lag like all PS1/PS2 classics releases.

That doesn't sound pleasant.friedrich wrote:A guy who works at Konami confirmed on Neogaf it's a PSN classics release. So it will run at 480p and will suffer from severe input lag like all PS1/PS2 classics releases.
How bad is the input lag typically?
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
For me it's bad enough that I want to stop playing the game. I can't give you a number of frames or anything.
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
I'll take your word for it.
Thanks for the heads up!
Edit: In that case, hopefully neither TREASURE nor KONAMI would be using this as a solid benchmark for whatever they're planning next should downloads be poor.

Not one (or any) "PS2 Classic" DD title runs on the Vita as far as I know, so yeah. >_>Serraxor wrote:If it'll run on Vita, the input lag is resolved. But I dunno if PS2 games do the Vita thing like PSone classics...

Being idealistic here, but part of me wants a HD Edition of Gradius V.
And by part I mean all of my being.

Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
The input lag of the Psyvariar PS2 Classic wasn't bad (on a wireless controller even), and it's a recent release so I would keep hope alive.
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Wait, am I the only one who'd experiencing serious button input lag for PS2 PSN games? Or does this only apply to Raiden 3 PSN? As it's the only PS2 PSN game I have. But it reminded me of the epsxe2 emulator lag (and yes, tried reduce input delay setting too. Still no good), which is making me guess this is an emulation thing? And why I seek to purchase all PS2 shmups now.
Would like to know for sure, as I'd love to buy this game again to spare my disc spinning thingy from wear & tear.

When I saw the title of this post, I almost wept with joy.
Then I saw it wasn't an HD port.

You didn't miss anything, the OVA sucks big time. (This comes from a long time Gradius fan)cicada88 wrote:I don't have a LaserDisc player unfortunately.BrianC wrote:There was a Salamander anime.cicada88 wrote:i wish they would create a Gradius animé but this will have to do

Yeah. Be positive, I say. Maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise. At least it demonstrates some confidence in the Gradius IP by Konami. Maybe they'll do a great job. Maybe it'll be a bit substandard; perhaps it could be Konami's chance to test the water before a full HD release.ciox wrote:The input lag of the Psyvariar PS2 Classic wasn't bad (on a wireless controller even), and it's a recent release so I would keep hope alive.
Supporting it blindly won't help, but bashing it before it's out the gate can't do too much constructive either, so I'm all for this Gradius release until any shittyness becomes apparent through someone's first-hand experience.
EDIT: Hello Ceph!
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
I meant that Gradius V is expensive by the standards of what most people are willing to pay for non-JRPG PS2 games these days. I saw a good bit of complaining when the price of God Hand steadily rose from its ~$10 trough, as the game became more widely appreciated (this was before its own PSN release).

Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
I dunno, collecting Shmups is fuckin expensive, an gradius V is a real bargin compared to most titles.Pretas wrote:I meant that Gradius V is expensive by the standards of what most people are willing to pay for non-JRPG PS2 games these days. Is there another genre of game that is more expensive than shmups?
I show the prices to some of my nofriendo's and they are aghast.

Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
Who bashed it? We were simply talking about an issue that appears (at least to my knowledge) in every single PS1/PS2 classics release for PS3. So it doesn't matter if Konami does a good job or not, the input lag problem will occur with Gradius V as well.Supporting it blindly won't help, but bashing it before it's out the gate can't do too much constructive either, so I'm all for this Gradius release until any shittyness becomes apparent through someone's first-hand experience.
Re: Gradius V is Coming to PS3
If cumulative spending counts, probably social card games. But back on topic.nyder wrote:Pretas wrote:Is there another genre of game that is more expensive than shmups?

I am just hoping that this (re)release of Gradius would bring back a bit more public awareness of the series.
Hopefully lifting a bit of the negativity surrounding SLOT and ARC (especially in Japan I believe); the latter only lasted KONAMI's 3-month probation for social games, meaning it obviously failed to break even at that point (it wasn't a shmup anyway, but that's beside the point).
