30 and still at university. I guess I'm a slow learner.

32 and still at university, surrounded by barely legal dorky teens.
That I fail if they don't submit on time, though.
I must add that in here Sweden (Stockholm, at least), people studying in their late 20s are common (29% of our students, in fact).
The peculiar funding/scholarship system ensures that people can go back to university and earn a degree while paying little or no money, insofar as they pass exams without delays.
So, I get a good amount of deeply unmotivated dorks, of roughly my age or older, that are happy with any passing grade, and act like they are entitled to something that I am supposed to give them, as if they were actually paying for the service. And let's not mention that all of the Ph.D. students in my department are older than me, do not publish, and pretend to be intellectuals of some sort.
Truth to be told, I am such a cold, ruthless bastard that I can fail or give an A to anyone, since I only care about students performing and submitting on time, so I respect my own deadlines.
It is true: for your lecturers, you are just a number in a software.

Been playing shmups since I was about 11. Skills haven't got much better though. I still fire up my old Vic 20 occasionally to play some old Jeff minter classics like matrix laser zone and hell gate-great games.

I know the ones you're talking about. Anthony Bourdain actually did a bit on them on his cooking / travel show, and proclaimed them to be some of the most amazing things he's ever eaten..
I think they're just spicy chicken McNuggets from McDonalds. They're pretty tasty, but I can't imagine they're much more than ground up chicken fat with some spices, then deep friend. Can't exactly live off of that.
News just hit a few days ago that the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization has developed a new type of rice that actually makes you lose weight - I'm looking forward to 1.5kg bowls of gyudon, and not feeling guilty about eating the whole damn thing!
