there are weirder aspects about characters in Gunbird, such as one of them being gay and another one a pedophile

In brief:

I dislike way more shmups than I like.
I dislike RSG but don't want to sell my copy.
I only went to Casino once and then I was half cut so couldn't play properly (also think I was the only one in there in a suit).
I keep buying shmups but don't know why.

I tend to suck at games on purpose in order to extend their longevity.

Saya and Hibachi from SDOJ are most definitely lolis.
eXceed 3rd: Jade Penetrate Black Package has a loli as its TLB. There's probably at least one other loli in that game too.

Hellsinker, almost loli hermaphrodite. Also, naked fairies embedded in semi circular crystals.

I played a few credits of Espgaluda the other day. Seriously, who came up with the claim that this game is "easy"? Sure, there are many parts that are a bit dull when playing for survival, coming from SDOJ, but the last transformation of the final boss is absolutely brutal. I think this part should be included when assessing the overall difficulty of that title since it's part of the game as well.

The final boss is not entirely easy, I'll give you that much. I think the reason that people, myself included, call the game a joke is because that most things before the final boss are pretty easy so there's resources to tank with. A lot of the game's patterns in the first four stages are even easily NMNB'd on a blind credit. Most people I know managed to clear it in about 3-4 credits.

I really wouldn't be surprised if someone claimed that they cleared it in one credit.

Yes, most things before (!) the final boss are indeed very easy. But the last form of the final boss is quite tough. I think you'd have to be really good at STGs to clear that game on your very first credit, though.

I see that opinion a lot and I don't understand it. Apparently there is a big jump in difficulty there but I can't notice it at all. The difficulty progression seems natural all the way through. The final pattern has never given me much trouble, as far as the final boss is concerned, none of the patterns stick out as brutal, I remember getting a NMNB of the boss (with timeslow) in one run, Maybe you are overestimating the hitboxes, they are very very tiny even if they don't look like it. On the final pattern, the gaps open up very slowly and the gaps are very big, giving you a lot of time and leeway.

If you enter kakusei while the last boss is in its final shape, it pulls up a barrier that neutralizes your shots. Even worse, if you get hit and trigger a bomb this way, then you'll replenish the energy of the boss. So, "timeslow" doesn't really work at this point.

If you trigger an auto-bomb, you move out of the way of the boss so that you don't heal it.

I don't remember anything about that shot-neutralizing barrier you are talking about but you can still use kakusei to make tricky dodges on the final attack.

Side/back-shots are unusual in shooting games, so that last pattern throws people off a bit. It does me. I basically had to bomb/suicide through it on Arrange (which is admittedly a harder version, but the gist of the attack is the same).

The last pattern is slow and spacious even without Kakusei, but you can tap it when you go through the gaps to be extra safe.

- You guys are always, always talking about the same games, there are so many more out there, omfg. It's always about Raizing, CAVE or Touhou. Get over it, it's getting redundant as hell.
- Besides, you guys are seemingly spending fortunes on games you don't even like or play. That makes no sense to me.
- Despite the amount of games I've bought and tested in the past 5 years, my favorite STG is without contest Atomic Runner for the Sega Genesis, despite my best attempts to prefer my most expensive stock. I also seriously cannot believe even a website like this one doesn't at least list it as an unknown gem. I believe the gaming community is really dumb for skipping this game, especially when considering how affordable it is. I also believe anyone who drops this game based on its controls is a complete moron who is too confined in gaming conventions and really should reconsider if he/she is a gamer.
- Atomic Runner is a horizontal STG with platforming elements. It is not a run 'n gun.
- I listen to Galactic Attack music in my car. Track 6 makes me tap my foot like nothing else.
- Instead of studying, I'm trying to convince people on this forum to play a game I know they'll probably hate no matter what.
- One of my favorite mame games is Space Zap.
- Treasure is overpriced, but not overrated. Just play their games instead of watching them or talking about them.

I feel that people need to get over Hellsinker, Ketsui, and Chorensha. Sure, they're decent, but FAR from the best out there.

Wow, edgy attitude. I don't think I would even call Atomic Runner a shmup in the first place.
