How many things Nintendo are still GOOD at can you name? I can think of:
a) durable hardware and
b) controllers pleasing to hold.
The latter not being of much use if they sit on their hands waiting for third parties to come up with new gameplay solutions fitting those controllers like a glove. What 1st party Wii games other than Wii Sports you thought made worthwhile use of 1st party Wii control devices? In SMG I didn't find a thing more substantial than point & click minigame tacked on. It's the kind of 3D platformer I've played many on PC and PS2 with usual gamepads.
Two most fresh Wii games for my money were Excite Truck and Kororinpa - 2nd and 3rd parties respectively. Point & click-wise, why on Earth didn't Nintendo at least fund more shooters than Eco Shooter: Plant 530, S&P2 and Link's Crossbow Training? I know about Battalion Wars 2, but can't imagine point & click gaming veterans not being displeased with its laggy cursor at the slightest.

That's true, Nintendo don't really offer much the stands out from the crowd beyond durable hardware - although that's a fairly big one for me, as the PS360 reliability track record is a major reason for why I went gaming PC + Wii this generation.
In terms of motion controls, you're right - I've only had motion control-based fun with 3rd party releases, with the exception of Metroid Prime Trilogy. No idea why we didn't get more point and click/shoot stuff - particularly with Sega's back catalogue of arcade gun titles which we only got a smattering of.
Skyward Sword was their big motion control push but it fell flat. There really wasn't any need for it outside of a few "slash sword in this direction" sections (where frequently it would register another movement as the swing and get all out of sync). Combat for the most part was shield parry > stun > attack > repeat. Cursor aiming was all over the place and needed to be reset almost every time. Swimming and flying were a chore. Basically you'd get a better, less frustrating, experience if you could use dual analogue controls - and it's that kind of lame implementation that gave motion control a bad name. Then we get The Last Story, which has crossbow sections nailed on for Wii Remote aiming and it's not used.

So there's no way to play Slyward Sword without motion control? (Outside of emulation, which I may do if it's possible to avoid motion control BS) I was already really pissed when I noticed I was being forced to buy another contoller without the option to say "NO! Screw your motion controller and shove it up your ass, Nintendo! Right up your dumb ass!" I really hate Nintendo and this BS trend with a passion (if I haven't made myself clear enough). Main reason me and my brother bought DKC Returns on the DS too, so we don't have to wiggle the dam Wii gamepad (no matter what mode we in) everytime to do a dam roll.
And I'm so sure nobody has yet told Nintendo what a bad idea this is? If I ever seen Myamoto biking to work one day, I'd tell him off for this dumb ass idea instead of kissing butt like what most likely is happening "Oh, it's Myamoto! You're a legend! Nothing you do is EVER wrong? Let me kiss you bum bum, it must be sore from riding a bike all this time?" Cause yes, nobody ever tells it how it is. Everyone kisses ass & got enough BS in them to forever fuel their ass kissing.

That's one thing NOA did right. US ones come with it. Lame how Japan and Europe have them separate.TransatlanticFoe wrote:Like how you have to buy the 3DS XL power adapter separately.
I have been enjoying a few first party games like Super Mario 3D Land and Animal Crossing, though the latter is almost more of a guilty pleasure. I also like the Galaxy games quite a bit and found the graphics to be well done for the hardware. Intelligent Systems (second party?) stuff like Pushmo, Crashmo, and Fire Emblem Awakening has been enjoyable too.
