I'm sick of the d-pad on these MS pads. The Madcatz ones are apparently not great, and the limited selection of stuff available is due to MS locking accessories.
So, do any converters exist that will allow me to plug a Saturn pad in, os PS2 pads, or .. anything aside from the junk currently available?
I'm trying to avoid gutting a Saturn pad and going down the project box route.

Try the apower or afterglow, i prefer them as an all round pad.

I bought a cheapo PS2->360 adapter on eBay, and it's a bit finicky recognizing the PS2 controller sometimes, but overall works pretty well for $7 or whatever I paid.

Thanks, has anyone here used one and found it to be lag free?

Highly recommend this one as being lag free.Sixfortyfive wrote:http://etokki.com/Xtokki360
Many others are not and are also weird. This one doesn't require a pad to be plugged in either.
Used to use one with my HRAP 2.

I have heard that it's not particularly responsive with analog buttons but that digital ones work perfectly. I've only ever used all-digital controllers with it though.system11 wrote:Thanks, has anyone here used one and found it to be lag free?
I can't give you a precise test myself, but I do remember seeing Markman of MadCatz testing the converter's predecessor (Xconverter 360 Plus) and finding that it never lagged or dropped inputs. That's what got me to buy one. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a proper test for this model but I'd be surprised if it was vastly different. It is one of the go-to converters for fighting game tournaments these days, for what it's worth.

Well, I've ordered one - thanks for the pointers. I've got two of the Darkstalkers edition Saturn pads still from when it came out on the PS2, one's never been opened and the other is like new in box. These should help easy my DOA5 blues, just can't reliably hit diagonals on the MS pad.

If you do decide to do the project box route, you could use something like toodle's FGwidget to convert PSX or Saturn to DB15,
and then wire a DB15 to 360 converter by using a donor pad. Problem is that the official pads are not common ground -
some third party controllers are common ground like the mad catz "arcade gamestick" which i got for around $20.
