Hey guys, I know people have mentioned loss of sync with the sega saturn during certain instances of gameplay. I know it would probably vary from cable to cable so I wanted to start a dedicated topic for this problem to try and get a definitive answer on what the problem is and what the solution could be.
My setup is a generic S-video cable for the saturn with a framemeister.
I noticed playing Dracula x that when I pause the game the video becomes a bit shaky.
I was wondering wether this happens with the official sega s-video cable.
I also wonder if switching to an rgb cable might help or what kind of modifications would help.
Thank you guys very much for your assistance.

3 Saturn units (Hitachi model 1, Hitachi model 2, Sega model 2), all kinds of RGB cables. Official PAL ones, official japanese ones, raw sync custom made ones. ZERO problems.

Never a single problem? Thank you for the quick reply. I guess it is most likely the cable. I wouldn't think it would be the saturn. I'm using a white sega saturn hst-3220. I have a derby stallion one I'll try it to confirm it is the cable that is the problem.

Just get an RGB cable anyway, no reason to use S-video with a Framemeister on a system that outputs RGB.

The cause of your screen getting "shaky" is, I believe, because Dracula X switches to 480i in the menu screen. My memory on this is a bit hazy though.

I wonder what I could do to fix that? I noticed it in radiant silvergun as well between the intro and title screen.
I wanted to get an official japanese saturn rgb cable. They're hard to find.

well, deinterlacing is never perfect, only as good as it gets. Maybe you're using one of the worse modes like GAME1/2/MEISTER ?I wonder what I could do to fix that? I noticed it in radiant silvergun as well between the intro and title screen.

For sure I was using one of those modes as I don't kniw how to add scanlines in the other modes or change the screen size. I guess I have to read the framemeister thread from front to back. I've read about 50 pages, and the wiki. But the wiki is a little bare.
What would be a better mode?

Re: Saturn sync with framemeister or in general
You enable scanlines on any other mode with the C Button.
Standard & Natural are the best for 480i, with Standard having a stronger noiser filter. Picture is best for 240p. But if you you don't want to switch around, standard and natural are fine.
Resizing the picture is something you should refrain from, because it messes with the scanline emulation.
