Do you own an XRGB2+, and can you do me a quick favour?

Post by Skykid »

Due to the problems in this thread getting a response from the XRGB2+ what I just bought, I'm hoping the community can lend me a hand with a little test.

Using various units and inputs, I get no signal to any of the three monitors I tested my XRGB2+ with. Trying to pinpoint the problem, would any of you guys mind briefly turning on your XRGB2+'s with no console input at all, and tell me if it renders a signal and you can still access the XRGB menu?

I'm trying to figure out if the issue is to do with the VGA out, since I'm thinking the box itself should still display on the monitor when powered on, even without any console connections.

Thanks so much for the help with this.

You're probably not going to want to hear this, but I get access to the menu without any input to the XRGB.

That's what I guessed. Yep, looking pretty conclusive now. Thankfully the seller has been really communicative and happy to accept the return after I finish troubleshooting, but it looks like we're both going to lose something on international shipping.

I did remember from previous experience the XRGB2+ coming on without an input (and fiddling with the menus) which is why it hasn't made any sense I can't render a signal whatsoever.

These things happen I suppose, thanks very much for your help today fagin, sorry for the slow reply I was out and about. ;)

Yeah, I don't even have to plug it in to tell you it should be displaying an OSD. Sorry Skykid.

Does anyone know if Micomsoft offers repair on their older units, such as this one?

Jon gave me his XRGB2+ to trouble shoot a while back and after recently playing with it, it is alive to a certain degree, but comparing it's functionality side-by-side with my identical unit, his has something seriously wrong. I was thinking if it was maybe $100 or less for a repair, it might be worth it rather than dumping/replacing altogether.

I suppose being as I have a working unit to compare, I could poke around in there with my oscope, but I really just don't feel like messing with it.

I'm pretty sure I've read of people having their XRGB-2 units refurbished within the last few years. They should still offer to do it.

Last time I checked their website, they will still repair the 2plus. Anything older then that is no longer supported. However if you bother them enough, they might help with the older units still...

It's on the way back to the original owner. Was a very reasonable price so I'm disappointed it had some issues, but if he wants to get it to micomsoft I'd rather not have to jump through those hoops.

Thinking to go for the XRGB3 instead next time around.
