which is the result of this?
dreamcast with composite cable on xrgb mini?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
the pics are actually taken through a transcoder (VGA to component), so direct RGBs could even be a tiny bit better. Still you need a VGA box and you need to convert RGBHV to RGBs.

Hi all !!!
Seeing your discutions over the forum, and I want to participate my self !!
Don't want to bother, but I'm a hughe fan of micomsoft product...and a lover of all shooting games...
(Sorry for my poor english...)
I've made a little video capturing the Framemeister : The game is Digital Pinball on the Sega Saturn (I think the game runs on the Hi-Res Saturn mode), the output on the mini is set to 720p, and the capture card to 576i, that's why it seems a little shining I think...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQKMHqe88OA
The source is a PAL Saturn, the output res is 576i, captured with Avermedia live player, (I think) the result is very great
With the Xrgb-3 on this game I've got lot of trouble, display was trembling, and shaking...and with the Mini all seems to roll !!
But I think my scanline setting-up is baaaad...I've got great rendering with 480p sources, but in 576i...no...
So, if you please, you could give me some feedback to calibrate over and over this powerfull tools, who bring oldies back to newest high !!!
(More videos comes along, with some shooters games !!!)

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
For 288p PAL titles the only way to get good looking scanlines is to set the output to 576p50.
Unfortunately scanlines for 480i/p inputs with 480p outputs are broken right now, so I *assume* that 576i to 576p is affected as well. This would mean - right now - that there's no way to get proper scanlines for 576i titles.
But this said, why would you want to run a Saturn game in Pal 50Hz anyway ? And for 480i titles you can easily use 720p60 output with great looking scanlines.

I should try the 720p60, I don't remember if I already try it ... lol
The thing is the more I use the frameister the more I love it !!
It's a beast, with every sources I try, I could get , with some set up, a great picture !!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hmm, capture looks a little poor to me, but I have never played that game so I don't know how it is supposed to look.
Last time I tried it yeah, but why would you want scanlines on a 576i native game anyway?so I *assume* that 576i to 576p is affected as well.
720p/50 for PAL.I should try the 720p60
If you feed the XRGB3 in B1 mode an interlaced image the results aren't that pretty, but to be fair they aren't supposed to be since there's virtually no input lag. With the Xrgb-3 on this game I've got lot of trouble

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
What are the best settings to use for a Wii? I am using the Wii component cable with the d-term converter cable to connect to the framemeister's d-term input.
Should I set the Wii ouput 480i or 480p?
Which settings should I use on the framemeister? Or does it even matter?
I normally leave the Wii in 4:3 mode because I mainly use it for virtual console and gamecube games and the Wii stretches these by default. I did notice that when I tried the Wii in 16:9 mode, the framemeister was still displaying a 4:3 image. Whats up with that? Do I need to force 16:9 on the framemeister if I ever do want to use the Wii in 16:9 mode?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
480p is always better than 480i. Like your TV, you have to set 16:9 manually for all standard definition signals.

I think this is way better

Yeah you're right, I've playing with and whithout scanlines, and the game going better and better without, I've got a fix on that scanlines, but after all, the picture is perfect without for the 576iBuckoA51 wrote:Last time I tried it yeah, but why would you want scanlines on a 576i native game anyway?
Thanks both of you for good advices, and the better is to try myself

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Not necessarily. Setting the Wii to 480i allows for 240p output for VC games that support 240p. 240p to 1080p scaling is better than 480p to 1080p IMHO. Then again, why are you not playing those games on the real HW to begin with?ZellSF wrote:480p is always better than 480i. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Much nicer.I think this is way better![]()
Remember the 480i/576i native Saturn games wouldn't have had scanlines on a CRT (well, if you want to get pedantic at least not the really dark scanlines you associate with 240p material). The confusion comes in because there are some 240p/288p games that are output by some consoles in 480i/576i. Here adding scanlines would be desirable.Yeah you're right, I've playing with and whithout scanlines, and the game going better and better without, I've got a fix on that scanlines, but after all, the picture is perfect without for the 576i
Course, it's your setup, you can add them to anything if you think it looks cool

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I have been thinking to buy XRGB framemaister. I live in Europe and need 240V PSU. What kind of plug (mm) the PSU have? And how many Amps (A) framemaister PSU needs?
Thanks!
Thanks!

My Mini has stopped working and the picture keeps shutting off the TV every couple of seconds. Remind me how you factory reset this thing again? Can't for the life of me remember.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
there is no reset button combination, only the reset option in the menus. did you disconnect all sources and hold down the safety button to have the unit reset to 480p output with standard settings ?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
There was a way to access a safety mode, which I believe runs an older firmware that remains untouched by other updates. Good in case a firmware update was interrupted and leaving the unit otherwise bricked. I'm sorry but I can't remember how to access it, but I'm quite certain it was mentioned here before MANY pages back.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
hi!
it is ok if I connect a euro multi scart adapter to xrgb mini(with euro scart converter) to connect multiple consoles?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Safety button that's the ticket thanks. There's also that RESET option in the menus, but I can never remember where. I should document this on the Wiki, can I put your remote translation up there too Fudoh?
Solved the problem, for some reason the HDMI handshake wasn't working when the mini was set to 1080p and the split was between the capture card and the telly. Not sure why my PC wasn't even turned on at the time. Stuck an EDID emulator between the connections and all is fine now, phew.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hi!
So, I will get my framemeister soon and want to connect my SFC and PS2 to it (for now). RGB is the obvious choice for my SFC, but what about my PS2? I heard (or read) that the PS2 doesn't work that well with component+Framemeister.
I play both 3D and 2D games, like Sega Ages, Onimusha Series, Katamari, MGS, Mega Man Collections and more. I will also play some PS1 games sometimes because I currently don't have access to my PSX. Will connect my PSX too as soon as I have access to it again though, so PSX playback on PS2 isn't really important.
I have a modded PAL PS2 Slim (if that matters) and both a RGB and a Component cable (would buy a new RGB cable though, since that one I'm currently using is ages old and looks like it got a bit damaged).

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
The Mini handles component fine. The problem is simply that the PS2's component signal has more noise than the RGB signal. On the other hand component allows you to easily make use of the PS2's 480p output for games that support it, while it gets rather complicated with RGB.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Okay thank you, will use the PS2 with a component cable then, as I originally intended.
I read your review a few weeks ago. Made me want to have one
. Can't wait for your update.. you are still working on it, right?
(hope you didn't cancel it).

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Is it normal for any game displaying in 480i to be a bit shaky?
Looks like the screen is vibrating just a tad. Same with the Saturns Hi-res mode.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
You're using one of the game modes or meister mode. Switch to Standard mode or another deinterlacing mode of your choice and it will be (mostly) gone.

Try using the Movie mode. That's the most solid 480i picture mode of them all.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Can any other XRGB-mini users comment on RGB output from the Neo Geo AES console? I was under the impression that the later revisions of the console had poor RGB output (e.g. 3-6). http://nfggames.com/games/neorgb/
Using a stock 2xx,xxx AES via RGB on the mini was initially quite bad - heavy vertical lines between each column of pixels, and a tad soft. Despite comments on this thread about the AES showing up as 241p and needing to change the V_WIDTH to 33, I did not find that to be a requirement. This AES displayed as 240p, and changing the V_WIDTH to 33 caused 3 thick rows of pixels in 720p w/scanlines. Perhaps this tip only applies to modded PAL systems?!
Not satisfied with the stock RGB picture, I decided to cut the 3 extra RGB traces that run under the 3.58 MHz crystal and found that completely removed the vertical lines. Great! However, the picture still seemed slightly softer than ideal. Considering this revision doesn't output CSYNC I decided to restore it. I removed the ferrite bead that connects pin 3 (video) to pin 7, added a short wire to one end of the ferrite bead so that the FB could be moved from the row of ferrite beads. On the other end of the FB I added a 470uF capacitor and 75 ohm resistor (per the CXA1145 datasheet), and connected the + cap end to pin 11 of the Sony CXA1145P. The result was perfect RGB output! Sharp, clean, and free of artifacts!
Hence, a few simple mods to a 3-6 AES gives it A rated RGB output!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I never doubted that. Nice to hear that restoring the original c-sync on your unit showed great results. Once modded it really doesn't matter which AES revision you own. I don't own a AES anymore. I have encountered the 241p bug but on my MVS though.a few simple mods to a 3-6 AES gives it A rated RGB output!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Doesn't the 241p bug only occur when the refresh rate is a bit too different from 60 or 50Hz? I've seen it with my MVS and when running my JAP Mega Drive and Saturn in 50Hz mode. It really sucks, not so much because it stutters and the scanlines look uneven, but because the picture gets much brighter for some reason. Using one of the first firmwares (before 50Hz was implemented) it does see the MVS correctly as 240p and the picture brightness is at the same level as everything else. Annoying bug I really wish they would fix, but I doubt we'll see many more firmware updates for the mini
