Now that the patches are free on 360, does he plan to fix his broken "game?"

I made Sphere Shift, which revolutionized the hamster wheel platformer. Bow down, bitches :3

He didn't even bother patching it and fixing it on Steam, and the patches there have always been free.

That's because Fish didn't make it. =V

So is the consensus pretty much that the whole 'Xbox patches too pricy' thing was just an excuse? That Steam release was pretty buggy too if I remember.

Yeah, it was somehow even buggier than the XBox version.

I'm not pretending he did. Disasterpiece is one of my favorite chiptune artists.
Just saying that no Fez 2 means no Fez 2 OST, and that is a distinctly sad outcome of this whole brouhaha.

Hey, no need for hostility. I thought a lot of the concepts were cool, and definitely the 3d to 2d was implemented better than in Super Paper Mario, but I don't doubt that the game's execution of those concepts was horrible. There were also the blinking light and rumble pak puzzles which were pretty cool - but I'm a sucker for that sort of fourth-wall demolishing interaction.

I get that you guys don't like Fish much, no need to overstate it by calling him Phil Shit or putting "game" in quotes. Y'all are trying too hard.

Nigoro took a lot of flack for their game(La-Mulana) being delayed for so long. I saw a lot of smack talk on their English page. But they NEVER responded in a hostile way. Very polite and...well, Japanese.

And that game is better than Cave Story(which I like...I just think it's overrated), and DEFINITELY better than fucking Fez. No enemies? Come on now!

The thing that is probably the weirdest about Mr. Fish, is that he said Japanese games suck(I don't know if he meant now, or always or what...I don't know if he ever elaborated), but his game obviously takes from them. It even looks quite a bit like Cave Story. Very odd.

It's like if Creed said Peal Jam sucked.

The question was about modern japanese games. Anytime westerners discuss the general game industry (including this forum), they only think in terms of commercial disc games. Fish said those [japanese disc games] suck and ranted about hand-holding in Skyward Sword. Being at an indie game event at the time, the press and readers (suddenly, for the very first time ever) decided the statement also included Japanese doujin games. And that, in addition to game-journo misquotes, is why the cherry-picking shitstorm became a thing.

Keiji Inafune and Jonathan Blow said the same thing about japanese [commercial] games with zero clarification about indies, and nobody gave them any shit about it. J.Blow actually agreed with Fish as he made his statement at the indie event, yet Blow wasn't shamed in any of the gaming headlines.

All I'm going to say is that disc-based commercial releases that aren't either cinematic AAA titles or Nintendo's Wii-era games would have to then also be conveniently ignored in order to make that statement work.

Fish himself didn't respect that distinction when he told an indie developer "your games suck." He made it personal with that carelessly worded statement and then failed to get in front of the obvious building reaction to it. He had a chance to be an opinion leader and fucked it up.

He probably thought he was "Keeping it real" by using ridiculous hyperbole and making statements he couldn't back up.
