Autofire is okay right?
Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
Very much ok. I don't think it's worth playing without it, even...

You can say that again. Even the second loop will easily destroy you if you do not have quick reflexes.oboewan42 wrote:This game does not fuck around.

That aside, stage 4 is royally kicking my ass in savestate practice...

For those not aware:
Tapping B will flip your options direction (from forward-facing to backwards-facing).
Tapping A+B will switch your ship speed (from fast to slow).
I recommend using slow speed in stages 2 and 4, and fast in 1 and 3. No idea about 5 and further though.

Not really. It's cloned right out of Image Fight. This entire game is basically Image Fight with different graphics, music and stage design. The same company that made this, Allumer, is pretty much primarily known for their blatant clones: Rezon of R-Type, and Mad Shark of Raiden.

I never thought I'd hear a game use the chorus of "Phantom Lord" by Metallica shifted into major key for a boss theme.
Wow, this game is mean. I have no idea how to hit the second boss's second form; I get that I'm supposed to safe-spot the pink bullets by getting "inside" of him, but my options aren't wide enough to hit from there?

Obscura, I suggest you try to keep the X weapon for the majority of stage 2, including the boss. It's perfect for hitting targets to the sides like that.
Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
Obscura, you only need to target one of the red orbs after he has opened himself as far as i've seen it, so just position one of your options on there..

300,ooo get bonus is high for this game, I guess this makes up for the low get bonus of last week? This game is good, until the organic cave stage...

Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
That is really helpful info. How exactly did you manage to get 300,000 without clearing stage 4? I just spent the last 2 hours working out stage 4 and what I've seen is that assuming you NM all the way you won't hit 300,000 until after defeating the stage 4 boss. This is important because as far as I can tell, there's no way in hell to actually complete stage four if you die because it requires options. It's one of the most terribly designed stages I've ever seen in a shmup.
I actually think the Get Bonus is set way too high because of this. While I think I will somehow manage it within the week I doubt most people are going to have the patience required to work their way through that piece of shit stage. Isn't the point of Get Bonus to give less experienced players something to strive for?

Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
I died at the end of 3-1 and twice after killing the sides of the stage 3 boss and finished stage 3 with 305k. I think ideally you would suicide three times to the boss but I messed up.ACSeraph wrote:How exactly did you manage to get 300,000 without clearing stage 4?
Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
GET BONUS wasn't really intended for less experienced players to strive for. It's intended to give everybody something to work towards. Rewards spending a good amount of practice time on the game.
I'm afraid of what this checkpoint milking is going to do though >_> Pretty sure it won't be as bad as Gun Frontier, but people will need to start beating stage 4 before it becomes something really 'not to do'.

I've been hearing talk of a safespot on the Stage 3 boss but I'm not seeing it myself. I actually find that boss kinda interesting due to how much he makes you juke around his homing shots but it'd be nice to know what other options you have against him.
Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
You know I respect your taste in games but I'm really not sure I have the patience for checkpoint memomania right now

Man, I don't know about this game. Do I really have to stop shooting before changing the shot direction of the options? I guess that's just too much to ask for. Transforming the ship takes about three tries before it does it.
Re: TRP-STGT 2013 Conversation Week 2: War of Aero
Heehee!
For what it's worth, recovery in 4-2 is very much possible. You just have to be really aggressive. I also get the feeling that it's certainly possible to clear stage 4 in a few hours of savestate practice.

I'd love to see a video of how if you can make one. I can get through 4 in my practice runs with options but if I die I have no chance.trap15 wrote:Heehee!

It is definitely unfortunate that you can end up with more points at the end of stage 3 if you suicide than you can if you actually NM through stage 4. I'll probly go ahead and register a checkpoint milked stage 3 score and then spend the rest of the week trying to topple it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to or not.

MEIOU is such a lovely acronym. Anybody have any ideas what it stands for? I'm thinking it's:

Outer Space
Unassisted

In my practice I was able to hit 300k by mid-stage 5. On my practice I start stage 8 with 675k.ACSeraph wrote:It is definitely unfortunate that you can end up with more points at the end of stage 3 if you suicide than you can if you actually NM through stage 4.
If you all thought stage 4 was hard, wait until you get to stage 8

8. I just cleared 8 in my practice with 800k, no miss. The 2nd loop is kind of silly.
