to be fair it is more than a cable. it contains a digital to analog converter that you cannot get elsewere.

anyway, $125 for RSG

Getting one of those International Version DDP PCBs back in the early 2000s era when the asking prices were in the neighborhood of $250-280. Nowadays, it's gone up to the $500+ and up range just for a barebones original JPN variant DDP PCB.

Only if one could turn back the clock and scoop up some those classic Cave STG PCBs (i.e. -- DP, DDP, Dangun Feveron, Guwange, ESP.ra.de., etc.) at those lower asking prices on the second-hand PCB market, but alas, those days are long gone.

Or take for instance, a barebones Ketsui PCB selling for $375.00 USD in late 2005, just before it shot up in value above the $600+ mark the next year (when word got around that it was an ace STG PCB worth having in one's personal arcade PCB stash).

Of course, over the years, it's been slow going slowly gathering those classic Cave STG PCBs but realize that if I were to sell them now, it'd be more expensive to re-buy them back...so it's best to keep them and enjoy them like fine wine, they age gracefully as the years go on by. The arcade PCB hobby, once you get your feet delving into it, there's no turning back.

R$ 40,00 for a combo of 3 loose japanese MD carts: Twinkle Tale, Undeadline and Devil's Crash.

I'm poor so I always try to pay very little for games, I think this was the most I spent for a game but it was a great deal.

The most expensive five (that I still own) would probably be:

PCB:
Pink Sweets ($700 US)
ESPGaluda II ($650 US)

Console:
SVC Chaos Neo Geo AES cart ($345 US) this was not money well spent
KOF 2001 Neo Geo AES cart ($290 US)
Metal Slug 3 Neo Geo AES cart ($250 US)

Dangun Feveron PCB for about $325.

I also got an Espgaluda PCB for around the same, but sold it after a few months.

I think I paid about $150 for Battle Garegga on Saturn. I didn't want to wait around for a deal on it and I had a good paying job at the time.

After seeing SVC Chaos in the list, it would also be interesting to know what expensive purchases were money well spent, and which ones were disasters.

Dangun feveron pcb £250
Hyper duel (saturn) £145
Harmful park (ps1) £145

I don't always blow hundreds of pounds on a game, but when I do, Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru. As an aficionado of Japanese sidescrolling action I rate it among the finest. Arcade-paced, technically airtight, consistently creative and stylishly violent (Scanner Ninja Taromaru), with a thoroughly dark folk-horror atmosphere. And it has a great against-all-odds development story too. Only problem is the bland cover art, but I consider that a reminder of how lucky it was this game got released at all. The full-colour disc looks rad, at least. Will have played the equivalent cost in "credits" before long.

Wasn't a leap of faith by any means, though. When buying games of any cost, I am like Liam Neeson at the beginning of Taken analysing and vetting that karaoke machine he's considering getting for his daughter. I dispose of the lacking ones as ruthlessly as he does Albanian sex slavers later in the film, too!
