Yeah Pix'n Love makes some really amazing books for retro fans. I just wish more of their stuff was in English. Their PC-Engine Bible 1 & 2 and History of Nintendo books are fantastic.

So I picked up some deal of the day on woot a few days ago. A pico projector/backup batter iPhone case. Normally I believe it went for 220+, but got it for about 80 shipped.

Been dorking around with it at the house. Pretty impressed with the brightness and picture quality for a pico projector. I've been able to get a very good image on a screen size that's larger than 100 inches at work (unfortunately didn't take a pic). I was also walking around the neighborhood earlier this evening and projecting Esprade on the side of peoples homes (no windows of course, just a solid outer wall) haha.

I'm pretty impressed. I've heard there can be issues tate'ing a standard projector, but this makes it so easy. 100" tate shmups anyone?

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I took it with my iPad2 which has a horrible camera. I couldn't find the battery for my dedicated digicam.

Dorkin around on the walls around my stairs. I left the hallway light on to illuminate where this picture is being projected.

Nice! I learned that Fairlight reissued the CMI 30, as the 30A, but it obviously has some little changes whereas this seems even less changed.

And, of course, the price looks a bargain, unlike the 30A.

Sorry for the pic flood. :?

Most likely it was on sale because it only works with the old iPhone 4/4s.... but I probably wouldn't have picked one up at full price anyways so..

The lag is comparable with an iPhone tv-out cable. I haven't done any "serious" tests on those, but it's playable enough. I notice the items that do have the most noticeable amount of lag are various bluetooth controllers/joysticks. The iControl Pad, iCade 8-bitty and iCade Mobile pads are the worst from what I've tried, but the new iCade Core (like a standalone joystick) has no perceptible lag. However if you did more formalized testing you would find some. Good enough for not serious play I suppose.

oy that's mint, guv

you could even have a screening of this gripping movie in the hallway. Ebert gives it "two pointer fingers way over, because giving thumbs up seems inappropriate"

That's great , the ms20 mini is super affordable and I couldn't resist.

It is a really neat synth.

Why do you think it's rubbish? I think it's a legitimately good beat 'em up with excellent presentation.

For real? A legitimately good beat em up in comparison to what? It's got decent graphics, although the stages can be a tad bare, there's absolutely no stage layout variety (it's basically flat from beginning to end) and very limited in movesets. The enemies are definitely the most interesting aspect, but I found it largely basic and repetitive (in scrolling beat em up terms), even with the vegetable cocktail idea thrown in. It's very easy too iirc.

Maybe 'rubbish' is a bit harsh, but distinctly average, definitely.

I went to a specialty pen shop today to buy a fountain pen as a gift to someone; I saw these and couldn't resist getting one for myself: Zebra SL-F1 mini telescopic ballpoint.
Image Image

It fits nicely in my wallet, now I don't have to use the tiny stick on my Classic Swiss knife when I need a pen. It writes smoothly and consistently and has some nice weight to it.

Just being in that shop made me want to dig out my fountain pen too. I really ought to start using it more.

Ooooh. If I didn't always lose my damn pens, I'd get myself a nice one.

Instead, I just buy the biggest, cheapest box of pens because they will all be lost within the month [if I use them]... siiiiigh.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Sealed and cheap (considering Tatsunoko-Capcom deal is over). Found in a store near my place, too. Reminds me of the day I purchased two 'Cube joypads online, only to find out the guy lived on my way to the grocery store.

Looks too much like Street Fighter comics (something about shading?) for my liking, but those Tatsunoko designs yell "SERVICE!" at me. They knew I knew I wouldn't resisit.
