Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Interested in getting the PEXHDCAP but what does it take in terms of cables to hook up to JAMMA? Can you take the RGB+Sync+Ground into a HD15 connector directly, or do you have to get a sync stripper/cleaner? I thumbed through some of the pages of this thread but couldn't find a good answer.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
You need a sync splitter. I think the DVI-I input only accepts RGBHV on it's analogue pins.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
I see, so you must convert the RGBS to RGBHV using something like a Sync Strike.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Bit of a dumb question for a first post, but given I've read about the XPC-4 I've wondered about this. Would the SC-500N1/PEXHDCAP be able to take upscaled input from the XPC-4 on any medium resolution source? The main reason for asking is due to the fact I have an NEC XM-2960 monitor, and it is only capable of doing low resolution and high resolution modes. Once I have the card, my intended RGB recording setup would be as follows: board/computer->NEC->capture card. If any info exists, I'd appreciate it.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
sure, no problem with that.Bit of a dumb question for a first post, but given I've read about the XPC-4 I've wondered about this. Would the SC-500N1/PEXHDCAP be able to take upscaled input from the XPC-4 on any medium resolution source?
Depending on your priority for medium-res handling, instead of getting an expensive XPC-4 you can get almost any cheap Extron scan converter. They'll convert 24khz to 15khz (480i).

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
How does the image output look from the Extron on medium-resolution games (going from 384p 25KHz to 480i 15KHz)? Slightly confused on the "priority" part, just starting to get into this.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
It's pretty good, but it's no longer a progressive, but an interlaced image.
It's bit like playing a 240p title with 480i output, something like Sengoku Blade on a PS2.
But since we're talking $50 instead of $500 for the converter, that's kind of acceptable, but if you don't play 24khz all the time.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
When using Amarec with the card, has anyone got the presets to remember input device settings? By that I mean, I've got a preset for 240p and one for 720p. I want the 720p preset to automatically switch to HDMI capture and the 240p to automatically switch to DVI-A, but it won't, I always have to faff about changing things.
I don't see why Amarec can't auto detect like Video Keeper either.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
If the settings are stored in some. ini file, just write a batch to copy and restore the settings prior to using the app.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Presets are stored in an ini file but they don't seem to include device settings. I was hoping for a more elegant solution than a bunch of batch files.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Iirc the input setting is stored by the driver. If you change it in the Micomsoft app it will also change in other programs like Amarec. I don't think there's an easy way to make a one-click solution.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Is it possible to capture the voice chat on the xbox 360, from both myself and other XBL users, from a online multilayer game for example?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Is there a way to alter a mic's threshold in AmarecTV program?, as i have noticed my PC headset seems to pick up some background noise, but cant see any options to alter the sensitivity and help filter out background noise
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Not sure if anyone posted this yet but Micomsoft will be releasing their new card later this month,
the SC-512N1 low-profile capture card with output passthrough (takes up another PCI slot).
They also updated the driver, which also works for the SC-500N1, and a new version of Videokeeper.
You can download the updated driver from the SC512N1 page (first download link)

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
It looks like it loses the DisplayPort or whatever that rectangular connector is. Are there other differences, besides the over 10K yen price hike?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
It just loses the dedicated HDMI connector; you can still use the DVI port for HDMI with an adapter.
The main new feature is the 1080p60 capture (this is PCIe x1 v2.0 so double the bandwidth) and the passthrough,
although for my case it's not really that big a deal since I use the XSYNC-1 for passthrough and HDMI is easily split.
For retro and PCB capture I think the 500N1 is good enough, 512N1 is only if you need 1080P60.

I'm glad I held out. I don't need 1080p60, but I sure as hell want it.alamone wrote:It just loses the dedicated HDMI connector; you can still use the DVI port for HDMI with an adapter.

Cant understand the thinking behind not including a HDMI socket!!, its 2013 guys and the previous model had HDMI so what gives

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
You can use an HDMI to DVI adapter and achieve the same result, but require less plugs on the back of the PCB allowing them to make it a low profile card. The thought process behind it is sound.lettuce wrote:Cant understand the thinking behind not including a HDMI socket!!, its 2013 guys and the previous model had HDMI so what gives
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
What if you want to capture both analogue RGB and digital? This will now require an awkward cable swap or an expensive DVI switch.
Edit - Actually thinking about it something like this should work - http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DVIV ... 000RH0FXS/

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Let's hope that Startech will bring us a cheaper version of it
Although, for 1080p60 I think an external encoder might be the better option for gameplay capture.

Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
In still not convinced, the already have a dvi connection so why add another??, surely it would have been best to cover all bases and add HDMI rather than 2 dvi sockets?dieKatze88 wrote:You can use an HDMI to DVI adapter and achieve the same result, but require less plugs on the back of the PCB allowing them to make it a low profile card. They didn't add another. the 2nd port is a pass through. They eliminated a redundant connector.lettuce wrote:In still not convinced, the already have a dvi connection so why add another??, surely it would have been best to cover all bases and add HDMI rather than 2 dvi sockets?dieKatze88 wrote:You can use an HDMI to DVI adapter and achieve the same result, but require less plugs on the back of the PCB allowing them to make it a low profile card. Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Is there an easy way to capture from a PS3 console via HDMI with this card?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
certainly, if you run through a HDCP decrypter.
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Where exactly can you buy such a thing? I doubt you'd find one in your local electronics store...

No but there are a few websites that have them under completely different product descriptions.BuckoA51 wrote:Where exactly can you buy such a thing? I doubt you'd find one in your local electronics store...

So it cant be achieve via software?
Are these devices expensive?
Re: Micomsoft SC-500N1 RGB Capture Card
Are you certain that's a HDCP stripper??
