STG Weekly #14: Strania (w/ Side Vower)

We were originally thinking of combining the two: Under Defeat and Strania for an episode but it will be a little too long, (close to 2 hours.) Instead, Under Defeat will probably follow for Episode #15.

Fantastic episode! Strania looks like a great game with a not so great scoring system.

Too bad it didn't receive a disc release. Would've bought it immediately.

The end bonus is sort of silly but IMO the stage bonuses and overdrive have some pretty cool depth to them.

Not one of the best systems around but gotta appreciate that it tries something new with the weapon rank thing which encourages people to master using all the weapons.

One thing I forgot to mention in the episode, the netcode for the online multiplayer is actually very good, for some reason mostly on the strania side since vower can desync easily. so if you want to do online multiplayer in a shmup this is a fun one to play and one that works well.

Was a lot of fun commentating, hopefully more people try the game out now (and post some scores )

Great stream guys! I didn't know much about Strania prior to watching it but my expectations were far exceeded.

My biggest gripe about Strania is when you've got some killer weapons and accidently pick up some silly combination like dual swords and end up losing all your life (or armor) because of it. That is highly annoying.

Really nice episode, haven't seen much of the game, ended up after I watched the episode to buy some MS point so I can buy the game
