Why do people like Batsugun so much more than Donpachi?

This thread has made me lose all faith in this community.

DonPachi is a better game because it isn't about such excess; Batsugun hides everything from you, even when you've found it all and are supposedly doing it right. DonPachi is a better game because it doesn't have Jupiter, because it doesn't have Guwange coin milking, because it doesn't have SDOJ's stage 5 bug. DonPachi is a better game because the only way I could change Batsugun is to rip out its identity, because you would eventually come to a huge cluster of problems that requires spinal surgery and then some.

Indeed, DonPachi is not a perfect game. DonPachi is supposed to be "good", where Batsugun is supposed to "flashy"; these are your words and concepts.

(Whoever said Batsugun looks undeniably better isn't thinking. It might have better music, but the composer really screwed up the boss themes.)

Another example:GunFrontier for me kills DonPachi and Batsu clearly.But thats my opinion.It has to do with my personality,how I see things.Sure scoring system is low but graphics (art design),soundtrack and story kicks both of them,clearly in MY opinion.That has nothing to do with yours.You have to accept that otherwise we would have much less diversity.GunFrontier gives me goosebumps,therefore I love it so much.Its not about which game is better,its about what a specific person loves and why.

No matter what comes GunFrotier and MetalBlack are the greatest shmups ever created for ME.The vibes coming from these two games and the intentions of the developers are going straight to my heart,its pure bliss for me.Thats has nothing to do with others:)

They're both excellent, and essential vert shooters from that era, IMO of course. Aurally, I much prefer Batsugun though.

One word. FIREPOWER. And Batsugun has more of it.

I love both titles, but I prefer the old school feel and art-style of Batsugun. And the arranged soundtrack for it blows DDP's out of the water.

And for those who didnt know ,its not pronounced Batsu"Gun"
Its Batsu"Goonn";) Or Bats'goonn,depends in which area of Japan you are.

Played Batsu the first time in Tokyo (1994) with a broken Sanwa stick.Within seconds they fixed it,gave me some seven credits and apologized.These guys over there really know how to make custumers happy.

I prefer DonPachi by quite a lot. It's my favorite in the series. Batsugun left me cold because one of the early bosses was just too much of a pain for me. The game didn't draw me in enough for me to bother getting past this hurdle.

Hmm, which boss? I have to confess that I bomb the hell out of the st2 boss much of the time. If you don't want to bomb there, the trick is to just keep moving and not to stay behind it. And right now I'm stuck on st4's, which isn't so far from the end of the game.

Batsugun offers plenty of bombs, so I don't see an issue with using a few on any particular boss fight.
