JAEPO 2013 - Incl. Groove Coaster arcade & Under Defeat HD+

Post by Skykid »

Replacement for the AOU, and I missed it by a whisker. :(

Would have loved to have gone to this. Groove Coaster arcade, fuck yes.

Also, Under Defeat HD+ (assuming New Order) coming to arcade via Sega's new Download service ALL.NET +.

Didn't get any pics.. haha.. we were too excited, and every booth was on strict lockdown with multiple employees watching at all times. The pics wouldn't do the framerate justice anyhow - it's so amazingly smooth. For the most part it's the same as the PC version, but there are small graphical upgrades. It has a different title screen now, and there are three ships to choose from, with the third being a completely different ship. When you defeat an end-level boss, there are now three items to choose from, but none of them is a 1-up. I did get a sticker sheet after I finished playing, and it shows the new title screen. I may scan and post here. Anyhow, final verdict is that it looks and plays amazing - Can't wait to give it another go on my local NESICA system, and I hear the release date in mid-March.

360 port please. So, was it 4:3 TATE, or what?

Nah - Screen layout was exactly the same as the PC version, so what is that? Vertizontal? I think the NESICA systems use 16:9, so it has been recoded a bit to make use of the full screen.

So with Crimson Clover Arcade, what is the arcade control layout like, rancor? And please do post a high-res scan of the promotional CCA sticker sheet. Just for kicks, it's fun to play the original PC version of CC on a 15kHz low-res candy cab with an UVc setup.

Yep, your description of a verizontal shmup with CCA would be right on the money. Tis a shame that proper 4:3 tate option promised beforehand was axed -- I'm sure it would've delayed CCA even further but with a whole new overall visual aestethic flair to it, indeed.

It'd be nice if a 360 port of it is announced/released later on.

Part of me smiles that an arcade can be successful enough to waste money on employees to do nothing but watch machines and stop people from taking pictures.

Controls were exactly the same as the PC version - A - Shot, B - lock on, C - Bomb/Break. Wish I had more to say about it, but it's honestly not that different from the doujin release. The music sounded the same, bullet patterns seemed the same, and the difficulty seemed to be between original and unlimited. I think it may have just been sped up. There is absolutely no slowdown, so I think that's what made it a bit more difficult for me since I'm used to playing it on a less than cutting-edge PC.

Game looks great and it seems like 2p has been added, only negative is the HUD graphic design looks a lot more generic and might have lost the BREAK MODE BREAK MODE scrollers.

The Nesica cabinets appear to be 16:9 and I assume they don't have rotation, or room for rotation of the screen within the cabinet.

You can see a video here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND7DFcbHLrc

From what I've spoken to people about, you won't be able to get hold of one of these cabinets without a license (strict apparently) and the games are delivered via their content delivery network. So, it's not like this is just a "Crimson Clover Arcade release" - it's quite specifically a Crimson Clover NESiCA release...:(

At least, that's how I understand it until corrected!

You can rotate a Vewlix, but then you wouldn't be able to play any of the other Nesica games.

Are tate games even allowed on Nesica? They would need to separate both cab types/markets completely in their database.

Raiden IV and Shikigami No Shiro III are tate games and on Nesica, but I assume they have an option to play hori depending upon the cabinet configuration.
