I swear I got a x2 multiplier last night before collecting 1000 credits... I'm starting to doubt myself though.
Was this game a grower for anyone else? I didn't like it so much at first, but now that I've played it for a while I find it really hard to stop.

I'm up to chapter 7. Been doing easy stages, then beating them on normal. Then going to the next stage the whole way through so far. Been really damn fun. In the Easy stages you can be more experimental with the equipment and then use the good shit in Normal mode. Really loving the game though. It feels like Eschatos at times but more beefy in general. This is a game about shooting moreso than dodging. For any traditional STG fans, this is a must buy.

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
I would but the problem is there's so many different set-ups and stuff that it would get confusing for me fast. I was thinking not organizing by type but Type C kind of blows everything out of the water so it wouldn't exactly make it fair for the other ships...pestro87 wrote:Also, when can we expect to see a thread in the High Score section for this game? I'm having tons of fun with the Score Attack mode! B-)

I've been having the best luck with Type B, but then again I didn't know I was supposed to dismantle all the parts, and the Type B charge shield was taking care of that automatically.

pestro87 has done it (and is about to do menus).
It's very accurate, with few things still need to be translated, but very awesome nonetheless.

I'm having a pretty good time with this so far. Graphics are definitely more bearable than Eschatos. I think it looks pretty nice actually. Nice chunky 3D. Playing on easy right now with the using Eschatos save file bonus weapons right now to unlock weapons and such. Glad I ended up buying so far. Very glad that it has the option to turn off the voices, I don't think I could stand the game otherwise.

Stage 7 was hell for me. I have that entire stage memorized to a tee but that boss is GAAAH. Going to stage 8 was pretty much a cake walk.

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
I have some basic gameplay questions. I really hope someone can write a guide.
- What's the "fuel" for each weapon? How do you spend it, how does it recover, how does it affect the weapons?
- Is there any penalty in holding both weapon buttons at once? Doesn't seem to make shots weaker.
- Is there any point in buying new "engines" if I'm comfortable with the default "3" speed level?
- How the hell do I damage the 2nd level's first and second mini-boss? Where she's just hanging in the back? I've done it a few times, I just don't know what I did exactly!
Edit: I'm reading Special World's review and it's helped me understand a few key concepts, such as weapon energy. But I'd still like more info!

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
1. Those blue energy orbs replenish your weapon energy.
2. I'm not sure if your main weapon depletes faster when you use it, but your subweapon only depletes when you fire with it. Your shots grow weaker (or look weaker, at least) when you're low on energy, so only use your subweapon when it's killing something.
3. Nope, just whatever you're comfortable with.
4. Pretty sure you have to shoot the security drones until they turn blue. They might not do damage to her if you actually kill them though. Not sure.

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
Do you have any more information on this, KAI? I've been looking all over the intrawebs for a place where I can buy it but I haven't found any

Btw, every time I hear the Chapter 5 BGM I think of Wacky Workbench (Bad Future) on Sonic CD (EU/JP)...
Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
Right now is only available on Supersweep's online shop, if you buy it there, you get a special medley CD).
I'm sure this is going to be available at CDjapan a few weeks later (they always do that).

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
Thanks man! And of course Supersweep's shop doesn't ship to addresses outside of Japan
Thanks for the heads up on CDJapan though! I'll keep my fingers crossed

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
There are some very specific scoring tricks (for Score Attack mode) and moments it seems relating to destroying bullet-cancelling enemies and boss parts in this game.
The most lucrative example is in chapter 9, on the pink swirly lasers on the right side of the battleship. If you let the green dudes collect, as they shoot at you, and you destroy the cannon that shoots the pink lasers while the pink lasers are on screen, you'll make a ton of bronze CR. But of interesting note is that if you destroy the green guys during the moment all the bronze CR is on screen, they yield Gold CR. But only at that moment.
So there seems to be some correlation, in some situations, to producing gold CR while a lot of bronze (or maybe platinum as well) CR is on the screen from destroying more enemies.
You'll also notice that at some points during a stage, you may be barely off of the next 1000 digit of CR. From what I've seen watching some other replays, there usually is a way to reach the CR quotas for the multiplier bonus at certain sections and bosses of the game. This is how to get good scores. In Chapter 9 this concept is shown pretty well if you watch the high scoring replays of Easy mode. The player gets the next 1000 CR digit at key moments to get the most points for every sequence.
Some of the tricks and cancels are hard to pull off on Easy mode, so I imagine getting a great Hard or Normal mode score is going to require some skills.
I went through Score Attack Easy with all the ships just to discover the scoring concepts, you can die pretty much all you want, it's a great way to test out destroying the boss parts and to mess around in general.

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
Thanks for the tips! Both this and Eschatos have pretty simple scoring systems, but that doesn't mean some stuff isn't more obscure. What ship type are you guys having the best luck with? I think B and C type are both great for different reasons, but B type treats me the best. A-type seems to be a "safe mode" ship with low scoring potential.

Re: Ginga Force (Qute, Xbox360)
Wow this game really punishes you with bullets if you let popcorn enemies stay on the screen too long on hard. Getting absolutely destroyed.
And I love every moment of it.
Also, visuals really look better than I expected them to, quite a step up from Eschatos. Love flying through Stage 7.
Only thing this game is missing is a full all chapter run Score Attack. I can sort of see why they omitted it and stuck with stage by stage, cause a full run of Hard mode seems like it'd be even crazier than Eschatos Hardest.

Yeah, at first I was really disappointed, but then I realized levels can take upwards of 10 minutes. It'd be a cool feature, but I'm not broken up about it.
