Re: The Casino Arcade (London) Thread
Long time visitor to the Casino and sad to see it go.
Has anyone thought of maybe starting up an IndieGoGo crowdfunding type thing. I don't know how much such a place costs to keep running or how much property is but I'd hope that if it's not too much we could probably drum up enough attention on gaming sites and the like to maybe try and keep it alive?

Dan I believe I bumped into you there a year ago, and you directed me to the forums. Sadly I never got around to joining up and now Ive missed my chance! I could certainly use some tips, and it would have been nice to join in on the community.
I'm hoping to get up to the Casino tomorrow or Thursday if anyone is around, say 7ish?
Cheers
I think I remember - you were with a few other people and I was struggling with ESP.Ra.De (still am). Well at least you've signed up now. I'm sure we will sort out some kind of weekly / monthly meet up.
Never heard of IndieGoGo before, could be an idea. What about one of those pop-up shops, some kind of space like that. I've got the time to put in (I think I'm the only one without a "proper" job). Alternately spadgy's "put cab in pub" idea is more likely.Dizzm wrote:Long time visitor to the Casino and sad to see it go.

I'm going to be in town at some point tomorrow so I'll drop by.

I promise when I return to hold more seaside shmupmeets so we can rekindle the love. Or maybe I should just open an arcade?

The last Casino meet?! Is this official news that this is the last week then? Are they going to pull away the very Electrocoin seats from underneath our derriers? I suppose I'd better come down tonight and say goodbye then.

Depressing. The last bastion of London arcade gamers, lost in time like tears in rain.
Take some farewell shots guys.

I'll be there tonight from just after 7.30pm. I'm the guy with a skateboard, Royal Mail bag and flatcap. See you there!JWS404 wrote:I'm hoping to get up to the Casino tomorrow or Thursday if anyone is around, say 7ish?
It might be a round a week or two more - we just don't know. But we were told February.Rupert H wrote:The last Casino meet?! Is this official news that this is the last week then? Awesome, me and a mate are coming down. I'm a tall guy with a faux hawk, who is nervous and shaky with his shmups.
Yes that's right Dan, I was like "LOL CAN I PLAy 2!?" ha ha Hope I didn't cost you any lives.
Fingers crossed Progear is there and I can make some
Progress on it.

It's not quite Game Over for the London arcade scene - seems like The Heart of Gaming will be getting a transplant soon...

Sad news about Casino though: it had many faults, but I'll really miss it when it's gone. Even the rubbish Electrocoin cabs.
I'll be down at about 6:30, going to bring Andrew along as well since this may be the last time the Casino Crew get to play games in Casino.

Wicked to meet you guys and hang out. And great to play Progear again! Stick around on this thread for the few more Casino meets we may have, and other places in London we hope to meet to burn though credits! And if you see me (almost always with the skateboard and Royal Mail bag) say hello!JWS404 wrote:Awesome, me and a mate are coming down. Who are that lot? Part of the JAMMA+ crew? And do they already have a public arcade site somewhere? Great if they come to London!JDE wrote:It's not quite Game Over for the London arcade scene - seems like The Heart of Gaming will be getting a transplant soon...

Oh - and if anyone sees owner John, can they ask him if he'd sell the neon sign at the top of the stairs that points downstairs when Casino goes? I'd pay him plenty enough (I reckon!).

Excellent news for Heart of Gaming... they were running an operation in Potters' Bar so I'm optimistic, and in zone 3-4 north London? Sounds like (gritty) home.
And good luck to you guys... here in the US, I'd kill for anything that's remotely like a social place or a community

Re: The Casino Arcade (London) Thread
In case anyone is interested, the new GamesTM has a nice bit of editorial on the current (bleak) state of the London arcade scene that even briefly talks of the Casino (in somewhat unflattering tones). Hope it's still there

Awesome video! I never thought to play 1.01 before but it looks a bit more manageable. I love the Garegga reference of the last form of the last boss
So the Casino is still open. Maybe it'll stay open forever, just out of sheer bloodymindedness.
