Photo, but it sounds like you're losing green - check all the monitor cables are secure and that the JAMMA connector is making good contact before more serious investigation.

yeah, there's an old crt computer monitor we have at work that has a purple tinge to it. I figured that one of the electron guns failed leaving only red and blue (to make purple)

Sounds like 2 different issues. The OP is talking about a potential connectivity fault on the Jamma lines. The Moh issue seems more like a De-gaussing issue. A purple tinge is different from purple throughout.

here are some pics from the back of the small monitor platine.
iam very clueless where to look and what to do...
it blinks purple after a few minutes playing a pcb, then it sometimes stays purple and then it is back to normal out of nowhere.
then again...

We are talking about the JAMMA connector, the cable connector that plugs into the PCB game. Find out which is green line

The only serviceable parts on the monitor are the capacitors.

Those are the big upright cylinder things, if they have popped I suppose if could have the same effect.

My astro city shows a black screen due to the caps. Well thats what I believe it to be. I haven't got it looked at yet.

the jamma connector is ok.

problem is the neckboard i think. if i hit it a little on the right side, then the picture turns purple or back to normal.
but then after a few minutes it goes back to purple.

but what to do now?

There's a visibly bad solder joint in one of your photos.

For a reliable repair I suggest resoldering all the joints on the neck board. As you're in Europe, make sure you don't use the new lead free (ROHS compliant) solder for the repair as mixing this stuff with leaded solder makes poor solder joints.

@viletim: i have to check that point again and see if its really a bad one. and that could fix my problem? is that a point which commands the green colour?

Do be careful if you're tapping it... Monitors carry high voltages, and the neck board connectors as well as the glass neck itself are very fragile. The neckboard is fitted firmly isn't it?

If you do get some of the joints reflowed, the first time you power it back up make sure you don't have a board plugged in. It shouldn't really happen but I have seen screens go bang and take out gameboards with them.

Why not let a professional have a look at your chassis?
PRetty sure there are TV repair shops in your town, just call them.
