Yes, I downloaded the new version. This is my first experience with the game, so I can't give you an answer yet.

I downloaded the old version of Blade Buster, annoyingly enough FCEU loaded the savestate from the new version to it, but it worked (until I got a new highscore on the new version, which loaded as garbage in the old version). So there is definitely some incompatibility.

I haven't been playing consistently enough to try to suss out any mechanical differences. The big enemies that shoot out the white orbs (one from the right, the other from the left) appear as a different color (red in old, pink in new) but I can't think of much else. Maybe just a change for color blindness? I have looked at the homepage and seen nothing (in translation) that suggests a changelog.

However, I did learn that "A hiding bonus is also a lot!"

Even so, I seem to be getting higher scores in the newer version. Needs more testing.

I saw this score for Super Star Soldier (5min Mode) on the scoreboard:

01. getbonus - 2,113,300

This is wrong. 2 million are impossible in Super Star Soldier... so I searched getbonus' postings and found out that this score was mixed up. His submission was for Final Soldier (which seems much more reasonable).
