Component Video Switch

Post by broken harbour »

Can anyone reccomend me a decent, yet cheap-ish component video switcher? I have several consoles that output component video and I'd like a switcher between the consoles and my XRGB-Mini so I don't have to screw around with plugging and unplugging cables all the time.

Found this...

Thoughts?

From my experience all the HD-rated stuff performs VERY solid with 480p material.

Using one of these:

Cheap, yet seems to work well. Don't have any other switch to compare with however...

I have one exactly like that. And unfortunately i can't recommend it. Even with just one machine turned on i can notice a slighty loss of quality in image and a tiny interference. Believe it or not, but im using 3 y RCA phono cables similar to this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T1-Audio-T1-1 ... 3a7d2b7008 and is working good. Ofcourse you can't turn on more than one machine at once

The Hama YUV-Selector AV-760 works perfectly without any loss of quality. You can get it on eBay(.de) for around 5€ to 10€. Finding one outside of Germany could be hard though.

I like my Zektor HDS4.1. Passively switches, but is powered and IR controlled. Switches that learn IR commands from your remotes really are very nice. I don't notice I even have a switch there, it just follows the commands I give to my AVR.

So if you want convenience definitely pick up a learning switch (or an automatic one, if those actually work).
