One of the oldest gaming rooms in Japan.

Post by O. Van Bruce »

I just saw this on /v/ and was kind of interesting. I just wanted to share it with you since some people here don't want to go to that internet hellhole. The gameroom is located in one of the oldest dormitories of the Kyoto University: It was build in 1913

Other images from the dormitory

"The dormitory is self-administered by the students.
I think it is the main reason why it looks like a slum building.
On other hand students have to pay a very low monthly fee of $27 to live there."

Sounds expensive. From looking at the pictures, I'd expect to be paid. :P

Haha. Getting simultaneous attraction and revulsion vibes here. Good to see they keep all their discs shelved and vertical at least! Fuck me, that bathroom is straight out of Silent Hill 2.

I always wondered from what kind of places all those filthy banged up PC Engine hardware on Yahoo auctions come from. Now I know.

That dorm reminds me of the club house from Up on Poppy Hill in its levels of disorganized dilapidation.

I'm going to assume that's a typo.

Not sure I'd want to visit, as much as I'd love to browse that PC Engine drawer.

It looks like it stays about as warm in the winter as most other Japanese homes... which is freezing fucking cold.

Good lord, what a mess. I'd definitely like to hang out there, but I doubt I'd be able to make it longer than a month without going insane. Very cool to see, though.

Awesome shit! Aparently you can stay at the guest room for $2 a night. Might be worth it if you want to save money for game shopping while in Japan.

I see Espgaluda in the PS2 shelf, so they definitely have good taste.

I wouldn't consider sleeping in that guest room and the toilet... holy fucking hell.

Aside from that I'd imagine to have much fun there. Hanging out, drinking beer, smoking (Yes, I'm a smoker. Fuck you health nazis), playing some video games and talking about the latest JAV.

This dorm is male only. Not by law, but by default.

Edit:

Actually I see some female specimens in the above picture. I am in shock.

If I recall well there are 80 rooms for 110 people living there.

And yeah, there are women living there. They shelter poor people and even homeless.

Close. It says, "Don't leave things laying out!" Basically put back what you take.

What's more interesting to me, is the picture of the window with the torn up banner hanging from it. The first words are "revolution". Must have been used by previous residents.
