So far all they've shown for the Vita port of Muramasa (unless I've missed something) is stuff that was in the Wii original...are those four characters displayed at around the 2:30 mark of the video finally a hint as to the new content that they've spoken of (I don't speak/read Japanese, obviously...)? I'm also interested in hearing if they included a "dedicated jump button" control option...and hopefully minimal (if any) touchscreen utilization.

There's no mention of a separate jump button. Furthermore, there be new mini scenarios for the new characters. The bad part? You gotta buy 'em from the PS Store. Lame.

That sucks badly. I am not paying money for DLC game characters.

In other news, Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable has just been released in America, but it's a PSN game only (price is ridiculous: $39.99 USD). Will be released in Europe next week.

The new ARK eCFW has been released for PS Vita. It is only compatible with the UNO exploit.

Features:
PSX game support (soundless so far, our sound plugin is too glitchy for public use at the moment)
ISO/CSO game support
NoDRM Engine for decrypted dlc playback
MS-SpeedBoost (most noticable on games like soul calibur)
Stargate Game Patches (fixes several anti-cfw games)
Customizable Main Menu
Plugin support
Recovery support
ISO-cache support (speed up ISO gaming)

Nah, that'd be this.

On a related note, I finally caved and bought myself one of these things...haven't done much with it as of yet (really got to hunker down and finish what I've been playing already before getting too distracted), but I've got a couple of games in the pipeline (plus a few other "cross-play" offerings) and a handful more on reserve for later in the year, so I'll be messing around with it some before too long.

Friendly likes reviving this topic for basically anything, but not when Ys: Memories of Celceta is announced for localization.

A pretty large percentage of Vita owners / people on the fence want that game.

Sly Cooper was also released today... I don't think anyone noticed.

Sneaky raccoons.

Wow, I couldn't make the link between Compile Heart and Compile. It was too hard not to be distracted by the, um, unique gameplay on display, and the developer's name being similar to the title of a certain infamous STG.

And that's a shame. I mentioned it in the 2013 game thread.
It's a cross-buy title, too: If you purchase one version, you get a digital version of the other for free.

Is there finally a release date for Dragon's Crown?

Excellent homebrew news for those who got the UNO exploit. An upcoming eCFW (Project: 6.60 TN-V) will give us access to the regular PSP XMB (which you normally don't have on PSV), and it will even be possible to access the PSP portion of the PSN store and play online.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus gameplay trailer. Gore seems to be back and there`s a new time attack mode called Ninja Race. Coming in less than a month.

I was under assumption that it was already possible to play online with Total_Noob`s firmware? At least people claim to have been doing just that with Phantasy Star Portable 2. Online MP through the PS3`s Ad-Hoc Party works just fine too. I can confirm the last part since I`ve been playing MHP3rd online ever since I got the exploit up and running on my Vita.

I currently have Muramasa Rebirth (I never played the Wii game), Dragon Crown and Tearaway on pre-ordered.

Current 3DS titles that I have on pre-order: zero.

Yikes!

Guess I should mention this in here, too: If your Vita is updated to the latest firmware, you can download the shmup Aqua Kitty for free at the moment (go to the PSM section of the PSN store):

From now I feel the need to ensure this thread doubles its efforts. With only 21 pages dedicated to the Sony's most crippling failure in the history of their hardware ventures, we're slacking.

So I'll be posting some choice information about the console to keep everyone on the pulse and ahead of the curve.

Lets start here:

Forbes: Sony's Portable Console Dying Ugly in Japan
"The performance of Vita in Japan has been nothing short of atrocious on so many levels. On the week ending November 11, the unit volume in Japan was a shocking 4,021. The eight-years-old PSP sold 12,000 units during the same week. This is a rare example of a new console failing to dislodge the old one even after one year on the market.

Nintendo’s 3DS continued its rampage, moving 186’000 units during the week – 46 times more than its handheld rival. PS Vita has probably already edged into the dead zone where developers start yanking support for stand-alone projects."

...

"PS Vita is going to struggle to hit 700,000 units in Japan during the calendar year 2012. This is far below viability. At the same time, Nintendo 3DS is riding a massive wave of blockbuster games week after week – Animal Crossing will hit 1 Million units next week, New Super Mario Bros stands at 1.3 Million, the latest Pokemon at 2.8 Million."
Back soon with more. Stay Tuned!

We all know the console is dead and we all know the flaws and bad decisions that brought its fall, but even so, we like the console because its a superior piece of hardware compared to any other portable console in the market. At least for me, that's sad considering that so much things and so much games could be developed for Vita... Nintendo it's having a blast right now because their franchises are already very popular and appeal to a very wide public. they got 3DS sales from that and the train just got bigger by companies producing titles for the 3DS now that they had a good market.

Would Sony had popular franchises (and they had, most of then has been raped or abandoned) they would have posed a good competition.

You already know all of this, probably. But your later coment and that article didn't seemed to know.

Hey, no need to quote that trolling with links to blog entries from ~3 months ago. Vita continues to have good software support and that's all that matters unless you are a Sony stockholder. My PSV is providing me with lots of entertainment; I definitely got my money's worth in recent months. And the show ain't over until the fat lady has sung.

BTW, Vita is currently outselling Wii U in Europe. Uh oh.

Ah, why not though. This thread needs a reason for a good bump.

Also from November, this Destructoid article:

3DS Outsold Vita 47-1 Last Week in Japan

I'll get something more recent for the next one, and we'll see how progress is going.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

My coworker loves his Vita, too. But then again, we both like to talk about a shared-dream-trip to Japan where he goes and bitches at Sony's office for the better part of an afternoon, and I do the same at Nintendo's office, and we meet for lunch inbetween.

Hopefully Vita's situation gets better soon, given how young the system is. I'd hate to see it become the next Lynx. While I do plan on buying one sometime, the prices on memory cards and the system ($80 more than 3DS? Well, it is the stronger system and should probably be a little higher, but not that big of a jump- $220 would be better than $250) could stand to come down a bit. A 128 GB card would be nice, since Vita DD games would chomp up a 32 in no time. On PSP, the 32GB cards are not exactly infinte either.

Ys Memories of Celceta is one of my key reasons for getting ready to buy the system. I'm hoping that Zero no Kiseki gets a US or other English translation afterward.

Ridge Racer I haven't thought about, considering that it runs at 30 FPS (lol, just like the original on PS1) and how stripped down it is compared to PSP Ridge Racer 2. Namco should have taken the "60 FPS or bust" approach used by Call of Duty. Sounds like a disappointment to me.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Let's hope someone develops a micro SD adapter for those memory cards. That's really the only thing I dislike about the Vita.

Same. They are a rip off. I grudgingly bought a 32GB card before my christmas vacation to fill with videos and PSP games, and 32GB really isn't that much, especially if you (like me) have also purchased a couple of digital PS Vita games on PSN (I only buy PSN exclusives that don't have physical releases). Unfortunately I don't think a micro SD adapter will happen, because the PSV memory cards are simply too small physically. Third party cards would be nice but are not very likely either at this point.

I can't really decide at times if to play PSP games on my Vita or PSP.

Vita has a much larger screen, much better motion resolution, much better colors and much better black levels.

PSP is native resolution so no scaling (godly scaling on the Vita though). It's not emulation so it doesn't have the slight input/audio latency the Vita has and the screen seems much brighter (CFW so like twice as bright as a normal PSP 3000).

Of course for all games one aspect is more important than all others, and that's controls, for games with complicated control schemes then I of course instantly go for the Vita. Which brings me to my point: Everyone should get ProQuake and see how fun FPS games can be on a Vita. Doesn't work on Ark for whatever reason.

Oh, there's a rumored Vita revision at the 20th PlayStation Meeting, with HDMI out and 4G support. Yeah I wouldn't put much stock into it either. I think the meeting will entirely be about the PS4.
