Pink Bullets 'Zine web store opens!

Post by Pyongyang »

Hi all,

So, another quick update. I've posted a mission statement to my blog and also unveiled a glimpse at the (current) cover art and where you will be able to pre-order/purchase the 'Zine from as the shopping cart is now live!

http://www.pinkbullets.co.uk/blogs/what ... s-updates/

Pre-ordering is not open YET. Soon come!

Click the link in the blog post or click the STORE link at the top of the page.

Thanks again everyone for your interest in this little project!

NOTE: Hope the mods don't mind me creating a new thread for this, I just didn't want it to get lost amongst all the other posts in the original interest check thread. :D

Thanks a lot! By the way, folk are already wondering if the final price is €99.00. It's only a placeholder price so don't worry!

Thanks. Yeah people have now been wrecking my head with messages about it, so I changed it to €6, which should be the final price. It's really difficult though to try and squeeze content in to 25 pages because you have to make it 28 pages (4 of them are for the heavy, glossy cover) and layout takes up so much room and still has to be readable.

Every page you then add on would bump the cost up dramatically. For a project of such small scale like this one, nobody would buy it because it would end up costing around £15 a copy!

That said I suppose it means more content could spill over to a future issue...? 8)

I hope that, if the magazine is a success, you cut down the price even more once you start producing a lot of copies. Because sincerely, 6 Euros for 28 pages sounds very expensive to me.

Also, no ponies on the 'zine right? RIGHT?

To get the price any lower you'd have to be selling in levels equivalent to that of Retro Gamer etc. It's just not going to happen, not for a short run niche product helmed entirely by one person, unfortunately. It would be nice to dream of it selling in those numbers, but that's just all it is. It's another reason why this project will probably be a one-off. Costs, interest and most of all... time.

Personally I think €6 for a printed copy including international shipping is very reasonable. Of course folks will vote with their wallets and if I don't reach the target pre-orders to pay for the print run then this whole project won't happen. Which is fair enough, like I've said many times before, chalk it down to a failed experiment for which no market demand exists for it, and move on. :)

One thing is for sure, I've learnt a hell of a lot these past couple of months since starting this project.

Well, I'll try to buy a copy nonetheless. Didn't know it included international shipping.

Looks/sounds great mate. Do UK and Eire get cheaper shipping?. Are the 25 pages stuck together like a magazine with a spine?. What size is it eg A4?. I am worried it might get damaged in the post. You only need to sell 100 copies to do a second mag?. Has videogameimports or play-asia contacted you about selling it?.

Oh yo, this looks awesome! I was also skeptical about the 6 euro pricetag, but that's pretty reasonable if including international shipping. Can't wait to see how this pans out!

Of course, this issue DOES come with the 360 demo for SDOJ, right? B)

I'd be surprised if he even breaks even at 6 euros inclusive.

certainly not easy. Here in Germany you pay about 300 to 330 EUR for a 28-page full color A4 mag (100 pcs) in good quality.
