Re: NEC LCD3215?
well, i don't know about that exact model, but the 15,7khz handling of my more recent nec p402 is really bad. and at 32" inch widescreen size especially you're much, much better off just getting a crt for retro games

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Re: NEC LCD3215?
unless it's advertised as a 100hz crt it will definitely be better for low res sources than a hd display.Donnesolkolov wrote:Well my friend as a lg Commercial Grade CRT i really don't no if its any good tho.ryu wrote:well, i don't know about that exact model, but the 15,7khz handling of my more recent nec p402 is really bad. and at 32" inch widescreen size especially you're much, much better off just getting a crt for retro games

Re: NEC LCD3215?
What does this mean? Obviously you want a multisync-capable set for retrogaming, and having only limited PAL display options would be bad for any imported consoles. But I don't think a refresh rate ceiling of 100Hz would be bad, because it should still have a usable range of sync settings for many 15KHz sources. But I don't see any CRTs here.ryu wrote:unless it's advertised as a 100hz crt it will definitely be better for low res sources than a hd display.

100Hz (or 120Hz for NTSC TVs) on CRTs means digital processing. Framedoubling. Bad stuff for gaming.

Was there any NTSC crts that did a 100hz?Fudoh wrote:100Hz (or 120Hz for NTSC TVs) on CRTs means digital processing. Framedoubling. Bad stuff for gaming.
Re: NEC LCD3215?
a crt that only accepts NTSC would be either 60hz oder 120hzDonnesolkolov wrote:Was there any NTSC crts that did a 100hz?Fudoh wrote:100Hz (or 120Hz for NTSC TVs) on CRTs means digital processing. Framedoubling. Bad stuff for gaming.
i don't know if european crts with 100hz label also support 60hz and 120hz

Re: NEC LCD3215?
That's just one frame of lag, I think - still better than many HDTVs and even upscalers running on a TV! And if the set has a setting (it might not) to disable motion interpolation, then it's not a problem anymore. Interesting thing to point out though - you don't really get 120Hz as advertised (although those of us with fixed-rate applications like games consoles and...well, pretty much everything you'd use on a TV aside from a media center PC) know better.
@ Donnesolkolov:
According to some random people on the internet, some 120Hz CRTs might not have allowed the motion interpolation to be turned off.

i've never heard of a plasma display with interpolation processing. dunno what the hertz on plasma displays stands for thoughDonnesolkolov wrote:i had a Panasonic TX28PL10 and it did not have a option to turn off interpolation so i guess you cant.Ed Oscuro wrote:That's just one frame of lag, I think - still better than many HDTVs and even upscalers running on a TV! Re: NEC LCD3215?
well the service menu may have a setting to turn it off. but IT maybe like (VSM velocity scan modulation) which you had to open up the back of your tv on some older Sony models.ryu wrote:oh lol, alright. for that matter i've never heard of a 100/120hz crt that can have its motion interpolation turned off.Donnesolkolov wrote:the Panasonic TX28PL10 is a crt.
Re: NEC LCD3215?
i was thinking that too, but it's unlikely really. crts with motion interpolation weren't around for long, so it's not like there was much room for development and for people to complain. i'd probably have heard of ways to turn the interpolation on these things off if there was one.Donnesolkolov wrote:well the service menu may have a setting to turn it off. but IT maybe like (VSM velocity scan modulation) which you had to open up the back of your tv on some older Sony models.ryu wrote:oh lol, alright. for that matter i've never heard of a 100/120hz crt that can have its motion interpolation turned off.Donnesolkolov wrote:the Panasonic TX28PL10 is a crt.
