I was expecting this game; I wasn't expecting vertical momentum and bouncing enemy shots

Any tips on how to deal with those homing bullets?

Scroll them off the screen.

BTW, everybody knows to wait for the bonus before attacking all the enemies (to get the multiplier higher and more easily), right?

It's completely unintuitive, but try doing a standard shmup tap-dodging rhythm. The game constantly reads your input and traces bullets accordingly, and games that do that can be solved by lots of quick jerky movement. The inertia messes up a lot of that, but if you just tap dodge slightly horizontally, 90%+ of the stuff will miss you. (Even the homing bullets won't hit you, until you reach the side of the screen, at which point you can just use a warp)

Wait, are we talking about the intelligent bullets or the standard dumb bullets?

Both. The intelligent ones seem to read your input and your ship's inertia, and travel towards where your ship will end up extrapolated based on that after a certain delay. So if you just slowly tap with the right rhythm, they'll just kind of hobble along behind you harmlessly until you need to get around them. The regular bullets also use this pathing (but only one "check" instead of every second or so), and it's only an issue if a ship shoots horizontally at you.
