My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
I liked many individual moments, but yeah, felt like the same lesson of The Best Night Ever. Wondercolts was a little uninspiring to me too... eps 4/5/6 are the highlights for me so far.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Wow, there's a pony thread here? I never noticed.
This show... it was on my radar until just recently. Unfortunately, for me it turned out to be another case of "The first season was good, but the second season started a downhill trend." The third season looked like it was going to be a return to greatness until "One Bad Apple" aired, after that I had trouble watching future episodes and I couldn't watch the Family Reunion episode at all because Babs was in it.
Me and a programmer friend of mine had discussed making an MLP shmup. I want to (I have ideas), but he has this notion that fangames are a waste of time. (And yes, I know there already is an MLP shmup--DonPonyDachi or something like that--but it honestly doesn't look that great).

You've fortunately found this thread well after our great battle to be recognized around here as normal. As for the shmup, I forget the name, but it wasn't all that bad to play. The creator actually posts on here.Edmond Dantes wrote:Wow, there's a pony thread here? I never noticed.

I thought the new episode was alright. Nothing special, but decent. The song was kinda eh, though. I did like the nod with the shooting stars to symbolize AJ's parents. Poor AJ

Seriously though, I watched the episode again and while I still find it rather disjointed in pacing, the song has grown a little on me.

Is proper English, unless you can prove otherwise. Besides, learn to place periods when you finish sentences, especially when you want to complain about other people's writing skills.
But ehi, don't forget the lesson of the brilliant show you worship:
"friendship is magic".
I am half tempted to judge all the local bronies by Illiryian and Nijska's disfunctional patterns. Wouldn't that be a marvelous choice?
No wonder some would chime in with some eugenics innuendo, by this point.

I believe the word they're talking about is "recon," which is short for reconnaissance. "Reckon" (to calculate) is the word used is a sentence like, "I reckon this is the way to go." They're one letter apart, so it's understandable to mix them up.Randorama wrote:"Which you lost, I would recon."

I am malicious, and I think that you purposefully ignored the disgraceful post by our little brony friend, pretending that such behaviour is acceptable, especially if it is in "defense" of good spelling which, clearly, does not involve placing periods where they rightfully belong.
Of course, whatever explanation you can come up with, I will take it as a dim-witted display of monolingual parochiality. Which, of course, warrants a righteous invocation of eugenic cleansing.
All in the name of friendship and love, of course.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Explain? Well, I can try. The general view outside the fandom is that Bronies aren't normal; that there's something wrong with them mentally. You can find all sorts of stuff referencing this, from short on-air Fox News blurbs, to written articles online. Chances are, that your comment was taken as an insult; i.e. that you are/were someone who thinks Bronies aren't normal/are mentally stunted/etc., for liking the show. It's a long standing, less than polite argument used against older fans of MLP, that's been retreaded many times in the media and online. I could be wrong, but that's my guess as to why he reacted as he did.Randorama wrote:And how this justifies the troglodyte tone, if you care to explain? The Coop wrote:

With that said, I never implied that his comment was justified. By not commenting on it, doesn't mean I back it. Frankly, spelling errors are hardly a reason to insult someone, just as liking a given show isn't a reason to do so either. However, you said "unless you can prove otherwise" regarding your sentence, so I politely explained what was referenced in your post, since you didn't seem to see it. Nothing more, nothing less. Which means, all the ill intent you seem to have inferred from my post, simply wasn't there.
Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Well, given that I was the one arguing that the whole discussion about the normality of fandoms, including the MLP one, borders on the absurd, I don't think that there is any good evidence for doing so. Again, from the outside this looks like a thread by brony lunatics, on a forum of nostalgia-ridden freaks. Those who hold dear the notion of "normality" have already sent the armed troops of consent, I guess. The Coop wrote:

Yet you did not address this completely out of place behaviour.
Except that "you", of course, was referring to the author of the comment. And, again, you selectively ignored the disgraceful attitude of the comment, which I can't really see as a classy or "neutral" action, in this context. However, you said "unless you can prove otherwise" regarding your sentence, so I politely explained what was referenced in your post, since you didn't seem to see it. But you were a dick in the first place, for implying that MLP fans are not normal.

I've already given my stance on Illyrian's post, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a dead issue. And frankly, your attitude with this strikes me as rather peculiar. You don't attack the one who made the original comment you're upset about, yet you get snippy with me for not white knighting you. You weren't exactly polite yourself with what you were suggesting in your original post (whether it was intended or not), so your outrage at me comes off as being argumentative for the sake of having someone to vent at.Randorama wrote:And, again, you selectively ignored the disgraceful attitude of the comment, which I can't really see as a classy or "neutral" action, in this context.
I'm now done with this discussion. If you're truly that upset over this, talk to a mod and ask them to deal with it. It's Christmas, and I'm not spending anymore of it on this matter.

Also that is a great title, but I have no idea how in the hell they're going to pull that plot off in a single episode.

You did not even understand my comment, congratulations. And hardly breaking news, from someone who takes Ayn Rand seriously.Another Yahoo wrote:But you were a dick in the first place, for implying that MLP fans are not normal.
I'll clarify by answering to someone who can actually articulate a better point, unlike you:
I don't attack people, at most I can complain about attitudes. And the fact that I need to clarify this to you, to be fair, makes me feel that my maliciousness is justified. Not about you, but about your attitudes to posting. The Coop wrote:I've already given my stance on Illyrian's post, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a dead issue. And frankly, your attitude with this strikes me as rather peculiar. You don't attack the one who made the original comment you're upset about, yet you get snippy with me for not white knighting you.
My original comment is simple and still stands: bronies are still not accepted as normal, in this forum or other places. This is a somewhat uncontroversial fact, unless someone can prove me otherwise. Case in point, the original discussion involved me roughly saying "why "normality" should be an issue, on this matter?", which still is my main point about the whole discussion. The Coop wrote: You weren't exactly polite yourself with what you were suggesting in your original post (whether it was intended or not), so your outrage at me comes off as being argumentative for the sake of having someone to vent at.
What we have here is hyper-sensitive, dim-witted, uncivilized individuals over-reacting over their mis-interpretation of my comment, given the point I explained above. Hardly breaking news, as we talk about a show that, however good and witty it can be, does attracts people that can be easily stigmatized (I posted a link to a study on the topic, btw!).
Besides, the little I have seen of the third season sucks. Not that I follow the show with any commitment.
I had to say this, sorry.

Maybe there is some error in communication? I'm sure everyone here knows my stance on MLP, so don't take this as an endorsement of bronies or whatever, but you do/did seem particularly hostile, Rando. I'm particularly puzzled at your replies to The Coop, who seemed to be nothing but courteous.
And I guess to clear my stance up, I was just shitposting earlier
I feel mostly neutral about the whole deal; I am, however, deeply disturbed by the people who get all crazy about it. Though I guess that applies to pretty much any group of fans (see: pretty much any weeaboo anime freak).
