Accepting it will save you a lot of time.
For the record I've already been to stage 5 after <5 hours playtime.

Indeed. Guwange's 360 arrange mode comes to mind. Also, Thunder Force III and Raiden Fighters 2 (with Fairy).

It'll happen.
good luck dude. I don't know what the scores are like on STEAM but last time I checked on PSN they were fucking astronomical. This game is so deep, I don't think it get's it's due praise. I barely hear anyone talking about it.

1-all Strikers 1945 II
1cc Esp Ra. De.
1cc MushiFutari BL original again (I 1ccd it twice, but haven't been able to do so again in the last months)

I guess those goals keep me busy for a while. :-)

And I actually thought that bolded one would be the hard one. My best attempts at Recollection Demonic end on 2C at the moment. Stage 2 is such an annoying stage, and I'm actually worried about 4D's second boss phase and stage 5. Stage 3, I'm not too sure whether it's one I should be concerned about or not considering I haven't seen it on the mode yet.

I do want to improve on my score on GundeadliGne's though, but I'm fine with it for now.

almost end of the year and I have to say I´ve kinda put away shmups this year and spent most of my time on this forum reading off topic :P
anyway I´m sure some of you did achieve some incredible shmups goals so this is the time for a little bump.

I remember posting in the 2011 shmup goals thread which included 1cc'ing Xexex (2-all), Dragon Spirit, among some other things I've forgotten now. However, this last month I've been trying to hammer out some unrequited loves and 1cc some of these games I've played for a long time. I managed Plus Alpha, Ordyne, Guwange, Eschatos Hard Modes and Dragon Spirit in the last month or so. So I'm very happy. The last game on my bucket list for this year is Ether Vapor ReMastered, which is lovely.

For 2013... well, I'll wait for the thread, but I have ideas.

You really think RF2 is an easy shmup? Or is this at some kind of non-arcade difficulty setting?

If you want easy and arcade, and also Toaplan homage, then try Twin Cobra 2 - almost beaten it myself.

Wow that post of mine goes back a bit.

Have you played RF2, with or without the fairy? The flamethrower's pretty OP and the hitbox is the smallest (or one OF the smallest along with the Slave ships) which reduces difficulty a fair bit IMO. It's certainly the easiest of the series regardless and therefore the best choice for a newcomer which is why I made the recommendation.

I'll accept that maybe putting it the same sentence as Guwange 360 mode is a bit misleading though. Feel free to send one of those asshole C&D letters to me if I find RF games easier than Cave games though. :D

Uh, yeah, many times.

It's a fine recommendation for a newbie, but I wouldn't recommend it specifically for a 1CC target. The game is all about scoring, for starters, so a 1CC is pretty meaningless if you don't even pop 10K medals; secondly, it's definitely not an easy 1CC compared to some other games. Is it an easy 1CC compared to anything Cave? Sure...but it's not on par with the truly easy stuff out there.

I see where you're coming from though. It's easy to forget that the games are pretty easy compared to some of the other stuff we play regularly here.

Just like DDP is pretty meaningless if you don't even chain any stage. This argument would apply to pretty much any game out there.

I would say RF2 is among the easiest arcade shmups I've played.

Got my first 2-ALL ever just in time for 2012. Clearing a Psikyo second loop was a goal of mine since I started with shmups, but I never had the endurance to keep playing.

I still don't like loops. Time to play a good game for a change.

But yeah: Happiness! :D

Here were the big four that I was able to beat this year:

Espgaluda
Ikaruga (Easy)
Mushihimesama Futari Original
DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label

I 1CC'd some other games as well, but these were the ones I had wanted to do for years and years.

I'm gonna get that Bakraid Advance clear even if it kills me. Doesn't look good though, last time I saw Vampire that shit looked like trap15's maximum rank hack.

Then I have a little suggestion for you, try making a savestate on Vampire with that high rank then keep practicing it over and over. I HAD to do that for 10 hours before I got hang of beating Vampire with 1 life in reserve.

I'm still working on my 1cc of esp2. I'm quite sure I will get it soon if I can just find the time to put some regular hours in. I would still like to 1cc guwange but that final round brutalizes me. I would like to become decent at DS MBL lvl 999 and actually get to seriously trying slash mode on akai katana. Other than that I'm considering venturing out of my usual favoured shmup style and trying a new (old) game like Radiant Silvergun.

Well I hardly got any of these done but on the other hand I don't care about a lot of the games on this list anymore (lol Garegga, roflmao RF2).

Next year I'll be boring and just stick with Gunbird 2 :D
