New site to destroy a work day: Flickr-like site for Otaku
Basically everything about anime/games except for... anime and games.
Wonder
The first shocking thing about this is that it was designed by Japanese, and that it's one of the simplest designs around. No, seriously... take a look. Also, for the most part, the pictures involved seem to be about people that understand composition and exposure. Again, for the most part.
I have met with the company that designed and maintains the site, and they are extremely interested in internationalization. So much, he seemed to think a Japan-centric e-commerce system would make no money. So, in the future, expect some type of purchase system of goods... some of the LE's from micro companies, and I think it's safe to say some way for those residing outside of Japan to get them. But, that's down the road. The site is in it's infancy now.
Right now, there is only a J-version, but it uses Facebook/Twitter for authentication. I imagine any language tool in your browser can get you all set up. Has like/favorites/following and all that stuff we're used to. I guess you can think of it as the otaku related version of Flickr. Cosplay isn't exactly my thing, and if the fate of the world rested upon me building a plastic model we would all meet certain doom. However, there is definitely a lot of creativity to find, which is always good for inspiration. Also some scantily clad coplayers (both J and western formats) which doesn't hurt.

My boss will be interested to hear how looking at anime, dolls and bewbs will help fix our customers' networking issues

Neat site. Rather intensive CPU wise, my laptop fan was screaming the entire time I was on there.
also, it doesn't look like say, sourceforge.jp which is always a plus, that is my expectation of Japanese websites

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I love sites that load all the images on one page; who needs good design when you can make your site a resource intensive hog?

I think I just might be stupid, but nice design aside, I don't really get it.
Let's browse illustrations, for example. What's the deal here? Do you upload stuff you've done yourself or is this just some sort of elaborate dumping ground? I've been clicking on some of the uploaded illustrations but I don't really see tags, uploader's commentary, Pixiv/community links or anything that really would be helpful to me...
Think I'll stick to danbooru.

CHECKPOINT!

Aren't they about to ruin some people's hobby? There's that warm, cunty Schadenfreude feeling to be had.

If Japan wants to conquer the internet, it must learn (develop?) foul language first. Quite a challenge.
Here comes a lesson.

No hits for "ロックマン" or "rockman." Worthless!
Pretty neat looking otherwise. I was able to break away after a few minutes, but if I had nothing important to do, I could see surfing the day away on there.

Glad some of you enjoyed it. Note, the site launched exactly one week ago. Give it time. You can always dress up like your character of choice (Virtua Fighter, Rockman, you name it!) and post your pics.
As for resource intensive, it runs fine on my machine(s). It should only be loading images as you scroll down... kind of like... (wait for it)... most recently developed internet sites. Flickr, for one, employs this method.

That doesn't mean it's any good. It's resource intensive (makes even my beast of a computer start spinning up the fans), loads "slow" (not really, but it loads sporadically and looks weird), and doesn't really offer any superiority over traditional "pages", other than "looking cool".GaijinPunch wrote:kind of like... No, but b/c it only loads pictures you need (beyond 1 page) and doesn't require you to continually hit a "next page" button arguably does make it good.
It doesn't seem to be much worse than any other content-rich site I load. It's also, again, in it's infancy.

Doesn't the .it signify that it's from Italy? Why not wonder.jp?

It's part of the site name. Like what I do for http://daifukkat.su/. I'm not from the Soviet Union

Well, its something new. I have never quite seen a site like that before.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
