From Utah, no less. Thinking of selling a bunch of games to lessen the burden of moving, and/or whatever I leave in stasis at the parent's house. But mostly I'm just curious about who lives out there, if they're interested in meeting up (I totally get it if you're not,) what kind of arcades they still have out there, if applicable, and if people have any suggestions for how to move. The current plan is a road trip with my sister with the necessities (TV, computer, clothes -_^) and then she'll take the car back. Don't plan to have a car unless it somehow becomes vital. Flight and shipping stuff is a semi-attractive alternative, it'd be cheaper and I won't have to worry about weather/road conditions (moving in mid-January,) but I don't know if what I'd save (not much near as I can tell) would be worth it. Plus I think my sister is excited about meeting some of her east-coast writer friends.

Moving to Philadelphia!
Re: Moving to Philadelphia!
"filthadelphia," "killadelphia," man I hope it works out :p
I wouldn't feel bad about living there, but it's certainly got the attributes of a big city
edit: just to be serious, you should take a gander at this

I heard it shines with rhymes.

Go to Mama Palma's pizzeria on 23rd & Locust (or somewhere near there). Best pizza I've ever had. Get the veal sausage & brie pizza.
As for the city in general, I quite like it. You do need to learn where to go and where to avoid, though, which takes awhile, since Philly is very bizarrely stratified.

I should add that I liked the city when I was there on vacation. It's like my passion for Detroit - respect at a distance at this point in time - but it legitimately is a great city, even though some parts of it look like the beginning of Beverly Hills Cop or Robocop, that's just part of the "charm" if you don't live there. Just something for the city's people to hopefully work out over time.
That said I wouldn't leave a bunch of valuable stuff in my parked car overnight, so make sure you finish moving in the first day...

You should check out University Pinball if you like fighting games and pinball.
The place caught fire just after I visited, so I have no idea what it's like now. Google searches seem to say they recovered just fine though.

Fortunately, I'm moving in with someone who has lived there for... while not a long time exactly, long enough that I'll have a guide of sorts.

Philly is a great beer city. Lots of awesome bars in the city and some really excellent breweries in the surrounding areas (Stoudts, Victory, Weyerbacher, Dogfish Head is a feasible day trip). There's also a lot of good venues for music and no shortage of delicious food. It's a pretty poor city though, lots of bombed-out looking ghetto areas, and there is no shortage of crime so you have to be mindful of where you're going and where you are.
Feedback will set you free.
