The reason Miyamoto and Gain are so much easier to play with is that since they're fast characters they have a much larger success rate of picking up stray medals and also the ability to macro dodge some patterns that Wild Snail for an example has to fly through.
Gain also has the best bomb in the game... as everyone should already know.

The best choice possible btw!
Been looking for another reason to get back to Garegga fo' realz and i think this is it! :mrgreen:

Oh wow I forgot how brutal rank was in this game. I keep getting wiped out on Stage 5. Maybe it's time for me to read up on the strategy thread...

Some of the DiMahoo ships IIRC. Just put a coin in and press Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right A B C Start and they'll appear in the ship selection screen, or set the option to enable them if you're on saturn version.

(And what's the deal with A,B,C ships besides different color and more silly names?) Edit: nvm, found it looking in the other ST threads, this game is really well documented by the community.

Perhaps a dumb question, but how do I get MAME to load the Japan version? It only seems to load Europe, though the rom is apparently multiregion or something.

I just use Tab > Dip Switches > Region > Japan > F3.

Yeah, I think that's all you have to do. Not sure if the extend rate is different by default though.

Every 1 million (or "Every 1000k") is what it was initially set to for me, which I'm pretty sure is Japan's default.

Funny how some people post scores that are gained from secret characters even though they're banned this week. They're in for a cold shower when they find out! :lol:
