The main high score thread doesn't distinguish, and I don't think there are any differences other than the title screen.

Just looked at the ROM files, the only difference is the EEPROM contents. So I highly doubt they're different.

Discuss stuff about Akuu Gallet here. It's not that easy...

It's actually a good weapon if you hold shot instead of autofire.

That Raiden-like score sux.
The game feels different when using autofire, I'll give it a try.

I can say that I like this more than I like Raiden DX, as medal collecting is more lenient and you keep your current weapon on death (does it reset on Raiden DX?).
However, I do find it a little weird that the stage bonus rewards you for leftover bombs but not leftover lives, especially since your bombs are reset when you die. And the green weapon is so horribly weak and annoying to use, even when you know how to use it.

Also, does anyone know what Button C does? The game registers it in the test menu but it doesn't seem to do anything in-game.

One of the Futari versions (BL? All of them?) has a similar quirk for the clear bonus.

It's lives * bombs * some_number. So it actually makes sense if you have 2 lives left and 1 bomb or no bombs to suicide, then you'd have 1 life and 3 bombs.

It makes more sense in a clear bonus where you won't need the additional life stock though. Suiciding at the end of a stage just to get a higher stage bonus is probably a dumb idea, unless extends are very easy to get (like Garegga or Bakraid, although that's for rank control and to extend the combo timer).

Yeah, try to avoid dying. The end-game bonus in this is ridiculously high per-life.

Also, I'm actually doing better with Hunter Seeker, instead of Missiles. What is wrong with me

There's a perfect bonus for not dying. In this case suiciding is a stupid idea.

I prefer Tracer Missles over the Hunter Seeker....The Hunter has gotten me killed more often than I can I count... :x

also
Tracer Missles+A crowded area+destroyable buildings = MEDAL BONANZA!!!

One flaw I have with Air Gallet is that the small bullets tend to blend w/the explosions, even while they're BLINKING!....has cought me off guard so many times.. :? Anyone else have this problem?

Diggin' it. Which power to use...? I'm liking F. "Fire" or "Fuck!" Hunter Seeker is kind of fun.

Rapidfire seems more useful for point blanking to get more damage, maybe.

Generally missiles are considered the best weapon in the game.

I'm weird and prefer Hunter Seeker, but I can understand not wanting to use it

Anyone care to opine: what are the advantages of missile over the red [F] spread?

Missiles let me hide on one side of the screen and hit enemies on the other side.

I think the F-weapon is the worst. =/ The Seeker is a close second. Point-blank rapidfire is definitely awesome!

Missiles are the best and there isn't much of a reason to use any of the others. It requires you to plan a little more to get as many 2k diamonds as you can (missiles might break boxes or kill enemies you don't mean to kill), but it makes the game easier.

Cool. Yeah, I felt like [F] would need to be a little wider a la Raiden to be really useful.

I really hope I have time to put a decent effort into this, it's a personal favorite of mine and was going to be my pick of SotM if I ever got the chance :P

Not sure if I will though, I have a friend visiting from Thursday through the weekend and a fair amount of other stuff on my plate as well...I'll do my best.

I don't think that's a big problem here, not much more than on any other game with orange-ish bullets and lots of explosions.
What irritates me is the bullets spawning on the center of most popcorn, especially on tanks. By the time a bullet reaches where the muzzle would be, the turret is pointing to a different direction, that really screws my sense of where bullets should be.

Is there a way to enable autofire on WolfMAME? I'm thinking it will be necessary for me to spend any amount of time practicing this one.

Emulation seems nice and improved over the last time I played this, specifically loading savestates. Thank goodness.

this is wrong, the perfect bonus is for not missing medals

The laser is great for milking the fourth boss opener. Whether or not said milking is a good and worthwhile activity, I'll leave for you to decide. :P

Nope. Certainly is making learning the boss fights a pain.

Savestates are functioning in Mame 0145.
