Batrider also gets my vote, but it needs to keep as all of the not-so-secret secrets that are in it too (character selection, modes, etc).

I'd also like a Radiant Silvergun.

Hey Jessica/DotEmu,

thanks for keeping in touch with the fans :D
I'd love to see the windowed display option recently made available in Metal Slug 3 applied to R-Type.
And if I'd have to choose the 'one' I say 'Dangun Feveron'. Would be great to have this funky little gem on my android phone!

Will there ever be a patch for IREM Arcade Hits to fix all the issues it has?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

The fact is that we only have the rights for RAIDEN, RAIDEN FIGHTERS, RAIDEN FIGHTERS II and RAIDEN FIGHTERS JET for the moment. There is no RAIDEN II or DX scheduled yet but be sure we will keep you updated if there are some changes ;)

Concerning the touch controls, we are working hard on it and all the updates will be post on the official Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/RaidenGamesOfficial

Last question, what would be your best arcade shmup you'd like to see on smartphones?
If you have to choose "THE ONE" :)
Bonjour Jessica !

a good shmups compilation (in my opinion) which would be nice to see on smartphones :

Aero Fighters - Aero Fighters 2 - Aero Fighters 3 - Sonic Wings Limited :D
(the same spirit as Raiden series)

And just for nostalgia...Xenon 2: Megablast ! :D

Not really sure how to react to this, because the RF series is very technical and perfection demanding and touch controls might make it a bit difficult.

Sorry if I somehow missed somebody else mentioning this, but wasn't there an awful free PCEngine iOS app where you paid for individual games? It appeared to be emulation based, and had a diabolical Raiden game. As long as this isn't anything to do with that, I'm very keen to play this, as I love Raiden.

Initially I thought this version might be great for some Double Play, but then I considered the tangle my fingers might get in. still, fingers crossed (no pun intended; I ain't that smart) this will be great.

Great that you guys have got in touch with us lot! to be honest I would have chosen Raiden, but as you've already covered that base... I'd dream of seeing a Psyvariar on iOS, but perhaps not quite so many others would rush to buy it.

Thank you all for your games suggestions, we will keep your ideas in mind :)

For your information, we just posted a preview of the iCade gameplay here: http://youtu.be/Dgt-CYtuT9w. Of course the game is still in development, it's not the iOS final version.

I notice there's two buttons visible on the iPad which seems to be one for shooting and one for deploying a bomb.

Not sure if everyone agrees with me but I think the fire button should be split into an autofire on/off and a hold for charge shot button. Also, will you be showing a video of it running normally without an iCade soon?

Who owns the rights to Raizing's catalog now, anyway? Are 8ing and Eighting the same company?

Think so, didn't they do Tatsunoko Vs Capcom for Wii?

8ing and Eighting are indeed the same company. I'd hope they still have the rights to Raizing's catalog.

And yes, they did do Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. They also did MvC3 with Capcom.

They wouldn't own everything, though. Dimahoo was published by Capcom, and I think the original Mahou Daisakusen was from Taito.

EA published Souky and Garegga on consoles! Would be lolleriffic if they still had the rights.

Me too. I'm still hopeful. Of course, I prefer games on a cab or console, but I've had loads of fun with iOS shmups, and I adore Raiden, so there's a chance it could go well...

I asked about this on Facebook and they said pretty promptly that they're still working on it and will let us know when there's an update on the matter.

Just checked out the video you linked to a few posts back. The one thing I noticed straight away was the serious lag between the payers movement and the ship's movement. If that is representative I'd say it's unplayable at the moment.

See! I didn't jinx it, honest!

But what are the odds this will only work on iOS 5 and up with the newest cutting edge iDevice? :P

Old post, but:

Taito never had any relationship with Mahou Daisakusen releases that I can see. The one licensed ROMset in MAME is an Able license release. Raizing's logo is on the PC releases, and I don't see any other (small pictures though).

Two points remain:
One, if a game is licensed for release on one platform, that doesn't necessarily include future publishing rights, nor rights for publishing on other platforms.

EA released lots of stuff and of course we don't have knowledge of their "standard" or specific license agreements (i.e. for the original Cotton on X68000), but that takes us to point 2: It might not be profitable to even try to object to a new release, so it might be more sensible for them to just ignore a new release. In any case, that assumes that there is some kind of wording to their original agreements that is not expired and includes then-unforseen future platforms for releases. I wouldn't put it past a big game publisher to try to hold onto rights in this kind of way if there was a big IP involved, but these are just shooting games with (except for Raiden, a very little bit) essentially no brand visibility at all. It might be different when charging for a mobile app but probably not - these aren't free ports for a publisher.

especially batrider. super hype for raiden fighters on mobile. hope that it'll have the same leaderboard setup as the 360 to keep me coming back for more. but get rid of the scores expiring after a year, that was the dumbest idea ever

I am bit wary of DotEMU, mainly because I felt quite burned after buying the Irem collection, which was nice idea but unfortunately ran pretty bad and was never really properly patched.

I hope they will at least include cave-style controls, yes that will change the experience, but the point is that you can't replicate arcade controls on a touchscreen - and you should not even try.
