Resident Evil 6 is really stupid in a lot of ways, and sure as shit ain't survival horror. Not like the game is even pretending to be any sort of "horror" at this point, but that particular facet sticks out like a sore thumb for people, and I can't blame them.

That being said, I found this particular mix of Action RE + God Hand to be entertaining all the same. I have to admit, it grew on me after a few runs through each campaign. I'll think about buying this somewhere down the line, not quite on release.

The most certain thing about RE6 is how polarizing it's going to be.

Lone Wolf skill. Apparenty this stops your AI partner helping you. They won't heal you if you're dying and (unconfirmed) they won't shoot anything. Ideally they would just stand behind you an crop up when a door needs to be opened...

You can now play as an enemy in someone else's campaign. This sounds good as it could make every replay slightly different. You have the option of turning this on or off at the start of a game.

I've got used to the camera and controls now. Takes a while and it's still not very good, but I'm determined to enjoy this crap!

Yeah I concur. Never understood why the community seemed to have such a problem with it. The puzzles are good, the enemies are interesting, the mansion is just creepy as all hell and the partner system is not nearly as much of a chore as something like RE5. Also, Becky is adorable.

I have a question based on a comment I read elsewhere: Is Capcom releasing games later for PC with DLC? Is DLC likely to be released for this game, and will it be "essential?"

Did you get knocked down at least? I got knocked down like five times - you'd have to be badness incarnate to die, with the AI partner always ready to rush over and wave the cellphone in your face or whatever. My bullet count from the courtyard didn't prepare me for the hordes of zombies coming soon, and Leon's kicks when weakened are much worse. It turned out that the best thing to do is just run through the areas, apparently.

There are some nods to "realism" here - tighter perspective (it looks odd when the character is blurred out), but also severe disorientation when knocked down (you don't get that in other games of the Gears mold) and the useless-looking gimped attack when hurt. I suppose these things make sense but they aren't welcome.

I suppose the setting was not too far off previous REs, through Leon's demo, but it felt notably worse. Severe repetition with the portraits and boxes all over - this is the fuckin' 360, throw at least as much variety in there as all previous REs had, and better than RE4 at least. What little was there was poorly used, too - the flush-fitting presidential portraits at different heights really threw me off, but so did the soda can of doom (I was looking at it, just as I write in the chat log), and the stupid outdoors table umbrellas. I also had a severe feeling of going down a maze of hallways through most of the demo. The car demo scene was definitely variety but felt off somehow as well.

Maybe they're not scary, but they certainly are tense. Old RE games often relied on the "backtracking-activated zombie" but it was not so ham-handed as here, where you could literally shoot bullets through a zombie, and walk right up to and almost on it, only for it to suddenly spring to life when you passed a certain line a bit further. It's just ridiculous. I recall that in Code Veronica they only woke up after you backtracked through an area, not when you passed a line.

Depending on what I see in the rest of the demo I might be willing to even buy this, but I'll probably wait for the PC version at least. It feels more my thing than Dead Rising 2, but it is just missing all the high points. Right now I just see a low-detail, super modular game with a decrepit Leon and probably not even any tall oaks.
