Didn't quite make me smile, but the sunset yesterday was unreal, then I heard that The Party's Over song I recalled the other day on the radio (so it's this time of the year not just for me) and today women outside started talking to me out of a sudden. Conclusion - my aura today is a bit less serious than usual.
The rear gate is closed down
The way out is cut off

Turning on channel 2 (NHK) and seeing that they're showing re-runs of the old anime "Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water". Maybe Japanese people are longing for the good 'ole days of anime as well.

Oh yeah, and I may have a decent hiring prospect lined up, so life is peachy. Hence why I posted this in this thread. I am smiling because I hated that job and now they're paying me to find a better one.

I made a new friend.

Looks like a maple leaf seed from above, evolutionary camoflage. It also had an amazing clockwork walk, very ratchety movement. I found him somewhere better than my car windscreen to sit:

Looks like a type of Seed Bug. An insect you can actually call a bug, being that it is a Hemipteran, or a "true" bug.

You know, given your insect pedantry, your taste in music and your alcohol capicity, I think we would get on pretty well IRL :D

walking through the physics building in my university. saw a bin labeled "electronic waste" with a bunch of shit in it.

grabbed this 20" monitor hoping that it might work.

turned out that it worked flawlessly!

I have a co-worker in my section who carries a little entomology book. People from the office bring him all kinds of weird insects they find at home. He then proceeds to take out a disecting microscope... and identify it! 8)

Haha, sounds like my life during summer. Sad to see it go, but during the summer months I get bombarded with texts and facebook messages to identify stuff. It's almost always Camel Crickets, the differences in May Beetles and June Beetles, Wolf Spiders, Brown Reclues; usually boring stuff. Was nice to identify both a Polyphemus and a Luna Moth for someone, though. I often find it surprising that people don't know what June Beetles, Brown Recluses, Jumping Spiders, Black Widows, etc look like. I dunno, just seems like pretty common information.

Then again, Daddy-Long-Legs are like 4 different things to people.

Well identified, I live in one of the locations the top link says is common for the species.

Never noticed the (S)HELL sign before, somehow. That is an awesome bit of symbolism with Murphy emerging from the flames beneath it next to his patrol car as Emil flees for his life!

What are a silverfish's favourite things to eat? Already an interesting topic for any curator, now experience it in Engrish!

Spent 7 hours today cleaning, rewiring and adding a surround sound system to my living room. Sat down after all was done to test it out and found everything was working correctly on the first try. No fucking about trying to see where I miss wired something. Everything just worked. It was a happy rare occurrence.

Decided to pay a surprise visit to my parents yesterday evening by driving to their chinese takeaway and spending a few hours with them due to it being the Mid-Autumn Festival.

In addition to being pleased that I was able to find the time to visit and had bought them a box of their favourite mooncakes, my timing was perfect as their shop was full of customers when I arrived which meant that an extra pair of hands wouldn't have gone amiss.

After a solid hour and a half of efficient teamwork, we were finally able to sit down, relax and eat a most agreeable meal together.
