Supergun Power Switch always 'ON'

Post by MintyTheCat »

Hello all,

I have a couple of questions related to Superguns.

I have a Supergun (my first) which has its own PSU and a Power-Switch that's meant to toggle as 'ON' and 'OFF'.
Initially the Switch functioned correctly and turned On and Off as required. Then it stopped working correctly and is now permanently 'ON' no matter which position the Switch is in.

My Questions are:

(1) Could this 'permanently On' damage any of my PCBs?

(2) How on Earth could the Switch remain On all the Time? Could the Switch's Pins have fused and shorted?

I didn't design the Supergun nor have I opened it up to look at how it's put together.

I contacted the Maker and asked them to fix it, they took some Time (about 4-6 Weeks), returned it and it worked for about 5 Minutes then it was back to being permanently On.

Any Ideas and Suggestions would be appreciated. I have a few rather valuable PCBs that I wish to keep in working order so naturally any failure in Hardware and potential damage is a Concern of mine.

Cheers.

If you pull the power supply from the Supergun before switching PCBs it doesn't make a difference.
Any Ideas and Suggestions would be appreciated
open it up and replace the switch. Not that hard...

You mean power cord from the power supply?

I'd agree that it should be easy to replace... assuming you know where to find a suitable replacement switch and can connect dots correctly.

Hi,

no, it is not the Power-Cord. There's a PSU-Cord attached to the Supergun permanently. I am referring to the two-Pole Switch that controls the Power: 'ON' and 'OFF'.

I'd replace the switch. Open it up and have at. Or ask the builder to replace it.

Yes, I asked the Builder to replace the Power-Switch. He then returned it about 4-6 Weeks later, it worked for about 3-5 Minutes then it refused to turn Off.

I have no idea what type of Power-Supply can stay on regardless of the Position of the double-pole Switch.
