XRGB-mini Framemeister
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Maybe someone could ask Retro Accessories though for some odd reason she never comes on here any more and seems to ignore most messages that are sent to her.

Sounds interesting, let us know how it works out, and if there is any Quality loss.jdubs wrote:Hey guys

Super cheap...hopefully it works ok. I'm planning to run three custom cables into it (with the correct Framemeister pinout) and a STANDARD male-male mini din 8 cable from the output into the Framemeister's input. I figure that if all of the input cables are utilizing the correct pinouts, the output cable can just be a standard.
Hopefully it works as planned!

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hey guys, there are a couple of references to the Framemeister's pin out....can anyone confirm which of these is correct?:

or
http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id= ... amemeister
I'm thinking its the second one since that's the one that Fudoh linked to in his review.

yes, it's the second one. Somebody with a login for the gamesx wiki should delete the first one.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I contacted Lawrence about this at the beginning of the year and he said he had deleted that image and the page. I went ahead and deleted the old wiki page, but it doesn't stop someone from looking up old revisions for the sake of getting confused!Fudoh wrote:yes, it's the second one. As mentioned elsewhere, the initial pinout was supplied by Micomsoft Support. Ultimately anyone with one of the JP21 to 8MDIN adapters can figure out the pinout and is what I had to do to create the second one. 9 months later and this is still being brought up!

Also, was it a particular firmware revision post 1.03 that allowed for 31kHz signals on the RGB input? Have 24kHz signals been tested?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
It has arrived! SNES > official Nintendo RGB cable > framemeister = heaven. Immediate improvement over svideo, which was already remarkable better than composite. I'm new to this, so seeing RGB upscaled is still blowing my mind.Zombisaurus wrote:
Wouldn't it be easier to just get a Japan Super Famicom RGB Scart cable? That should work great with a us snes and the framemeister, no extra adapters, etc, right?
The image is a little noisy still. Might this be helped with a different SNES revision? Or something else?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
you can first try to finetune the manual a/d setting in the Mini's menu. The image is a little noisy still. Might this be helped with a different SNES revision? Or something else?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Maybe a firmware update too? I think they're at 1.07A currently. Don't know if any of the fixes address what you're seeing.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Guys
Got my Framemeister today. Gotta love EMS shipping....literally 2 days from Japan.
Anyway, my vintage consoles aren't quite ready, cable-wise, to test out...however, I do have my xbox 360 hooked up to it via HDMI. Ok, the signal from the xbox is 720p and the output from the Framemeister is 720p. I tried the Meister setting and no scanlines. Tried the other settings, too, and they all look pretty much the same.
Am I missing a setting?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
I think I remember reading that scanlines won't show up if it's not also upscaling the resolution. So you'd need to use 1080p output, though I think scanlines are still bugged at that resolution.jdubs wrote:Guys

What does this do? Is there an English manual somewhere?Fudoh wrote:you can first try to finetune the manual a/d setting in the Mini's menu. The image is a little noisy still. Might this be helped with a different SNES revision? Or something else?
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Far as I know it adjusts the sensitivity of the analogue digital conversion, Fudoh could explain better I guess.. There's the wiki where I've been trying to document everything (for my own sake mostly, as I hate wading through these super long threadsWhat does this do? Is there an English manual somewhere?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Hey all, quick question about the Saturn and the XRGB Mini.
I finally got a SCART cable for my Saturn and the first game I tried was Fighter's Megamix. I noticed my TV flashing a few times (like it does when changing resolutions) and the picture would get razor sharp, but extremely jumpy/interlaced looking. Is Fighter's Megamix for Saturn running at a weird resolution only certain times in the game? It didn't do this in the game's option menu but did it again at the title screen and in game during the fighting. Googling isn't giving me much here.
Thank you!

The only thing that annoys me about the A/D conversion adjusting thing is when it gets rid of the noise in one solid color, it then shows up in another color!BuckoA51 wrote:Far as I know it adjusts the sensitivity of the analogue digital conversion, Fudoh could explain better I guess.. Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Fighters Megamix uses the Virtua Fighter 2 engine doesn't it? That's interlace, and yes the title screens are 240p while the game is 480i, the mini is exceptionally slow switching between the two.

That I can live with but the picture is very and showing weird interlacing artifacts .BuckoA51 wrote:Fighters Megamix uses the Virtua Fighter 2 engine doesn't it? That's interlace, and yes the title screens are 240p while the game is 480i, the mini is exceptionally slow switching between the two.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Perhaps you just expecting too much from game mode deinterlacing? You can't have both low input lag and nice deinterlacing you have to choose between one or the other.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Game mode1/2 and Meister mode use single field deinterlacing which decreases detail and causes the vibrating horizontal lines. Just switch to standard mode for proper 480i deinterlacing. I didn't find it to be noticeably slower than the game modes.

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
It must be slower in terms of input lag though, surely, there's no possible way it can't be right?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Unless you assume that the game mode is lag free (which I think it is not), then there's no reason why both modes can't have the same processing speed. One field as a buffer for analysis is enough for proper deinterlacing.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Oh I see what you mean, game mode should be faster but in actual fact they are the same speed.. I thought I'd tried both modes on the Amiga and the pointer lagged much less with game mode, but I could be mistaken.

Man, it will be feast once Leo releases it's standalone lag tester....

I hope we see it before christmas. Has been awfully silent for the past months.
Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
Are these two devices for Xrgb 3 or for the Mini Framemeister: Xsync-1 21 Pin RGB Multi C-Sync Separator
Selecty 21 Analog RGB Selector? And what really do the Xsync-1 21 Pin RGB Multi C-Sync Separator?

Re: XRGB-mini Framemeister (now available !)
neither was designed for exclusive use with a XRGB unit. The XSync was introduced when Micomsoft's HD capture card was released. The XSync is a sync stripped with JP21 input and two outputs (RGBHV and RGBs). The Selecty21 is a JP21 switch. It's quite old with an old-style japanese 15-pin (2-row) RGB output.

Those are some crazy good looking cables
I don't have pictures of my wires, but I took a few pictures of my setup after I finished moving a month ago. They can be seen halfway down on the last page here:
http://www.playright.dk/forum/emne/3979 ... -ud#583899
All in Danish, but I'm sure Google translate will do an excellent job as always

Gratulations on your new setup ! Looks nice and sorted. You shouldn't play Blazing Star in the wrong AR though
