CPS2 pcb with scrambled output?

Post by zendor118 »

Hi, I just recently purchased Dimahoo and i hooked it up to my supergun and LCD monitor. The problem is that I get a scrambled picture. I am using composite output of the supergun to my LCD. In fact, I've tried 4 LCD monitors, all of which give me the same bad video output. This is my first board I've purchased, so I do not have any spare parts to try currently. Anyone have suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting something like this? TIA.

Sounds like your LCD's can't sync to the 15khz lowres signal. Have you tried an upscaler, or hooking up to a regular tube TV?

is there any game sound or music...the only time I heard of cps2 with scrambled picture is one which the battery has died and the board has suicided. Ofcause this is the worst case senario and I hope its something minor.

You should still be able to hear sound.

I suggest reseating the CPS2 A Board with the B Board. Sometimes these things don't make that good of a connection.

CPS2 suicide board will not boot. Agree with ChuChu to try reseating the A+B boards and check for bent pins in the connectors. After that, try on a real TV not LCD.

I have sound, everything else, other than the video output works correctly. I will try a CRT, but I dont have one readily available in my home. Thanks!
I've read that if the battery dies, you'll only get a single color output on the screen, which is not happening. I can see the intro and demo playing, it's just wobbly and moves around. I've gone ahead and checked A & B boards, and the pins on the A-board look fine.

Sounds like the sync signal is possibly missing. Try a different A board and if that's the case, it's not too hard to fix if you're handy with a soldering iron.
